Texas Constitutional Elections do not get much publicity. No one is on the ballot. We are not voting for President or a Congressman. Who cares,  right?Constitutional Amendment Elections are actually VERY important. We are CHANGING the Texas Constitution! This year’s Constitutional Amendment Election is on Tuesday November 8th, 2011.There are 10 propositions on the ballot this year.Below is a list and explanation (from the Texas Secretary of State website) of the propositions that you will see on the ballot when you go to your polling location to vote. Also, below you will find an awesome graph from Parker County Blog. This graph shows the Voting Recommendations from Conservative Organizations in TexasAs you can see from the graph, the conservative organizations in Texas are AGAINST most of the propositions on the ballot. Proposition 1 is the only proposition that most conservative organizations are in favor of. Proposition 10 has a pretty neutral recommendation so that one is a tossup. The rest of the propositions are generally seen as bad propositions by the majority of the conservative organizations.Everyone of course should investigate the propositions and make their own determinations of how they should vote. This is just a guide
From The Classic Liberal, we get a reminder of what it means to be Libertarian.
Recently a member of my family labeled me an extremist for my political activism so, this quote became my instant favorite:
“I have need to be all on fire, for I have mountains of ice about me to melt.” It is this spirit that must mark the man truly dedicated to the cause of liberty.
The article also posits a question: “Would you push the button?”
My answer: In a heartbeat.
How about you?
UPDATE: Richard McEnroe of Three Beers Later posts a Serious Libertarian Quiz in which he ponders the limits of property rights in a purely libertarian society.
And Wyblog’s Chris Wysocki questions the academic vs. real world applications of Rothbard’s button.
Be sure to join in the lively discussion after both of these pieces.

Continuing Revolution Rally
When: Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 12pmWhere
Robert A. Taft Memorial, Washington, DC (North West of the Capitol Building, Directly West of Upper Senate Park). Click on map to go to Google for directions.
Why
Patriots across the nation spoke loudly last November. You voted for change. You voted for real fiscal leadership.Unfortunately Washington doesn’t get it. President Obama and the Reid Senate continue to ignore the fiscal crisis while the House dithers around the edges of spending cuts. We need bold leadership and we need it now. IT’S TIME TO ACT. Join us on the National Mall this week to turn up the heat on entrenched Washington politicians.
Tell them:
- You want the full $100 billion in cuts they promised
- You want $105 billion for Obamacare implementation cut now.
- You expect the courage to lead us out of the financial hole Washington has dug.
Join the Tea Party Patriots Continuing Revolution Rally on the National Mall this Thursday.
While American families have been forced to pair back their budgets President Obama doubles down on costly programs like Obamacare and high speed trains we can’t afford. This week Harry Reid will participate in a rally to protect entitlements. That’s not leadership. That’s just plain irresponsible governing.
We can’t kick this can down the road again. It’s time to make a stand and put the screws to the Washington establishment. Join the Continuing Revolution this week.

UPDATE II:
I hope everyone has called or faxed or emailed their Senators to urge them to oppose the DREAM Act, which just yesterday passed the House of Representatives and heads to the Senate today, and the Forced Unionization bill now under debate, soon to be voted on in both houses of Congress.
As I told my Senator yesterday evening in a short email, it would be better to have these issues and other such major legislation discussed after the newly elected congress is installed. In fact, I think any Lame Duck congress should be limited to legislation which deals with funding the military or the operation of our government only.
Of course, the Democraps currently seated don’t see it that way. They think since they are on the way out, why waste the opportunity to whack you once or twice more with additional laws we’ll have to fight for repeal of, thus enabling, in the case of the DREAM nightmare, further painting of anyone against the DREAM Act as racist and against the poor starving under-privileged immigrants who are here lawfully (only once the amnesty bill passes). They know that once a law is in place it will be almost impossible to repeal, especially after 2 years of implementation. The same holds true for the misleadingly named “Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act.†The TEA Party Republicans will have a lot on their plate to repeal in 2013. Do we need, or can we stand to pile more on that already heaping shingle? I think not.
Republicans have a lousy track record when it comes to repealing bad legislation. In fact, I can’t think of very many times it has happened. Republicans by their nature are less active in dealing with repeal of bad laws. Most will just learn to live with it or in the case of the RINO’s (read Progressive Republicans) be active in the enactment of such laws.
TEA Partiers, Americans, our job did not finish with this election. We just got started. We must be ever vigilant over this monster of a government that wishes US to be more and more like the failed model of Europe. If you love your country and would like to see her returned to her former glory as the beacon of freedom to the world, join with the rest your sane neighbors and call your Senators and Congresmen to oppose these destructive bills.
Congress.org has a list of who represents you.
That is all.

Ten Buck Fridays congratulates Dale Glading on his victory in this week’s TBF poll.
Here’s a little background information on Mr. Glading:
Dale Glading, 50, is the Founder and Executive Director of The Saints Prison Ministry. Headquartered in Moorestown, New Jersey, “The Saints” is the largest athletic prison ministry in the country with branch offices in Charlotte, NC, and Colorado Springs, CO…
A lifetime resident of South Jersey, Dale earned a Bachelor of Science degree with summa cum laude honors in Community Recreation from Temple University in 1981. He served as Recreation Director at the Wiley Christian Retirement Community for 10 years before entering full-time ministry with The Saints in 1994. During his years at Wiley, Dale developed a deep empathy for seniors and an understanding of the issues that concern them most…
Dale Glading on the issues: (excerpts)
It is time that the career politicians in Washington stopped trying to buy votes with taxpayers’ money and learned to live within their means instead. That is why I support Rep. Mike Pence’s proposed Balanced Budget Amendment that limits government spending to 20% of the GDP. I have also endorsed Rep. Todd Tiahrt’s bill to place a moratorium on all federal earmarks…
When I think about education, I consider two very important factors. The first is that our children are our most precious treasures as well as the greatest “natural resource†that America has. Second, competition breeds excellence in every area of life, including education.
That’s why I strongly support the idea of school choice. Failing schools shouldn’t be rewarded with a locked-in clientele, and children suffering in underperforming schools shouldn’t be relegated to receiving a substandard education simply because of where they live…
…how about lowering the corporate tax rate which is currently the second highest in the world? That would make American companies more competitive internationally and provide business owners with the capital they need to expand and hire more workers.
And while we’re at it, how about lowering the income tax rates for ALL Americans so we have more disposable income to better care for our families and better fuel the economy. The bottom line is that we all work hard for our money and as such, we should all be able to keep more of it…

What is the TEA Party all about?
Here’s the opening video from the march on Washington today.
I’m still looking for streaming video of the march. It appears that C-SPAN is ignoring it.
