Just now, on a dare by The republican Mother, I took a civics quiz on America and the ideals of her founding and happily did better than expected:

You answered 28 out of 33 correctly — 84.85 %

but not as well as I should have. What is scary is, I, an ordinary citizen robot, did much better than our average elected official.

for those who had held elected office it was 44%

Of course, The republican Mother scored higher than I. That was to be expected.

Take the quiz yourself to see if you are smarter than an elected official, then, get a fifth grader to take it. I bet the fifth grader beats them too.

I did better than the elected officials, but two less than you bot, I need to brush up a bit….

Heh, a couple of the economics ones had me because of the wording. Still, over 75% would be a passing grade when I was in high school.

Looks like I tied you my friend.

    “You answered 28 out of 33 correctly — 84.85 %

Average score for this quiz during January: 75.8%”

Maybe it’s because I was looking over your shoulder.

      I’m telling Mom!

90.91%. Perhaps we should have a civics exam for candidates? They have to pass with an 80% or higher to qualify to run.

Good job Larry. You must have payed attention in class. 100% agreed on the civics test for politicians. Make it at least 75% questions on the constitution.

  • Woodsterman January 31, 2011 at 8:54 am

    I got 29 out of 33 for a 87.88%.

    • robot January 31, 2011 at 4:42 pm

Hey Odie. Not too shabby for an old geezer! :)

Thanks for the link Mr. Bot!

      You’re quite welcome, Ma’am.

  • theCL January 31, 2011 at 9:39 pm

    You answered 33 out of 33 correctly — 100.00 %

    Whoo-hoo! I need to get a life.

#29, 30, and 33 are poorly worded. #30 in particular is a “trick” question. What governments are most likely to do, isn’t the same as what is most effective. That can easily throw people off.

    • robot January 31, 2011 at 11:09 pm

I would expect no less , CL. Wish I had the economics background but damn, it seems tedious.

    You answered 30 out of 33 correctly — 90.91 %
Average score for this quiz during February: 75.5%

    Missed 13, 14, and 30.

Never read Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, or Aquinas. Their works put me to sleep almost as fast as Thoreau’s.

Thought “The Puritans” was the name of a rock band specializing in anti-war songs. ;)

Think I missed 30 for the reason theCL stated.

    Nice score, CL! :)
