War on Terror

From Alec Rawls at Error Theory:

Conservative hero Alan Keyes is asking whether there is a pattern of submission surrounding the nation’s 9/11 sites. Apparently he has seen our video expose of Islamic and terrorist memorializing features in the crescent memorial to Flight 93 (now called a broken circle). Like any straight-thinker, he doesn’t like what he sees. The Flight 93 crash site is no place for a giant Islamic-shaped crescent, no matter what it is called.

On this point, Keyes cites Colorado Representative Tom Tancredo’s 2005 objection to the newly unveiled Crescent of Embrace design:

Back in 2005, then-Rep. Tom Tancredo was reported to have sent a letter to the National Park Service “asking the Interior Department to reconsider the crescent-shaped design of the memorial to those aboard a plane hijacked on Sept. 11, 2001, because some may think it honors the terrorists.” Tancredo quite sensibly argues that “regardless of whether ‘the invocation of a Muslim Symbol’ was intentional, ‘it seems that such a symbol is unsuitable for paying appropriate tribute to the heroes of Flight 93 or the ensuing American struggle against radical Islam.'”

Keyes notes our claim that the design is still replete with terrorist memorializing features and he seems to find it credible. Why shouldn’t he? The damning features are all right there in architect Paul Murdoch’s design drawings. Thank you Doctor Keyes!

“It’s not just embarrassing. It is a dangerous willful blindness, spurning the woken vigilance of Flight 93.”

That’s the last line of the full-page advertisement that Tom Burnett Senior and Alec Rawls will be running in the Somerset Daily American this Friday and Saturday (when the two first ladies will be in town for the 9/11 anniversary):

We are hoping that visitors will hold onto our ad, maybe even tape it to their car windows, and most especially, show it to any press people they come across. Hey, if the Park Service can use 9/11 to plant the world’s largest mosque on the Flight 93 crash site, we can use 9/11 to object.

Anyone live within driving distance of Somerset Pennsylvania? It’s a beautiful place to visit and a group of motorcyclists from Indianapolis is already going.

Tom Burnett Senior and Alec Rawls are buying full page color ads in the Somerset Daily American for both Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th, so anyone who makes the trip will have a ready made protest sign waiting for them. Just buy a newspaper, tape the ad to a piece of cardboard, and let the massed national media know what side you are on.

That’s right. With Laura Bush and Michelle Obama both attending, it’s going to be a media circus, and a rare opportunity to force coverage of our issue. Just self-organize. Ad-holders will show a core of united opposition (and the media might even be forced to read our brief expose).

A PDF of the ad will be posted in another blogburst next week for anyone who wants to make signs ahead of time. There is also a set of small posters that were put together for a previous talk by Mr. Burnett. Just print with tiling to make the finished product as large or small as you want:

Board 1: The giant crescent

Board 2: It points to Mecca

Board 3: The gigantic Islamic sundial

Board 4: The 44 glass blocks

Petition to stop the Flight 93 memorial passes 10,000 signatures

Previously: Surprise! Obama Backs Ground Zero Mosque

Flight 93 Father: Ground Zero Mosque is the SECOND Mosque Being Built on a 9/11 Site

Last Saturday, Iran was allowed to begin inserting fuel rods into their nuclear reactor without so much as a whimper from the international community. World leaders heaved a collective *sigh* and continued their golf games, vacations and parlor parties while the citizens of the world, the sane ones anyway, were forced yet again to wonder on the competence and/or contrivance of said “leaders.”

Ever wonder what would have happened if Kennedy hadn’t called Khrushchev’s bluff? We’re about to find out.

Just one day (1) uno, one singular day after the fueling announcement comes news of a new Iranian ambassador.

Really? What’s his name?

The Ambassador of Death.

Nice. Gotta hand it to those mullahs, they sure know how to name a weapon.

Hey, I’ve got a better idea. How about something more appropriate? (Warning: tell the children to leave the room.)

How about we call it the “Dildo of Doom?” It would go along with the douche-nozzle who’s running the country over there. Sorry to be so graphic. I’ll revise the name to shall we say, “Marital Aid of Mass Destruction?” Nah, just doesn’t have the same ring of truth.

OK, one more: “Suppository of Subjugation.”

Feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments.

It is also interesting to note that Wired.com is questioning the Ambassador’s size, wondering aloud if Iran is claiming it’s ambassador to be more “endowed” than it really is.

“Is that a WMD in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”

Each day that passes without taking out Iran’s threat of nuclear armaments is another day closer to World War Three. I’m hoping against hope that a special forces or some other clandestine outfit is making plans to sabotage their facilities.

There is a glimmer of hope though. An unattributed editorial in the Washington Times reports that

… There are unconfirmed reports that Reza Baruni, the mastermind of Iran’s drone program, was assassinated earlier this month when his heavily guarded villa in southern Iran was bombed. On the same day, three unarmed drone aircraft reportedly crashed into the containment dome of the Bushehr reactor…

Still, I’d like to see more than unattributed reports claiming unconfirmed actions of unarmed aircraft causing unknown results.

It’s all a bit… unsettling.

H/T No Sheeples Here! for finding the Iranian bomb video.

Previously: Should Israel Bomb Iran?

George Will, in Jerusalem for the Washington Post, quotes Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu:

Today’s Middle East, he says, reflects two developments. One is the rise of Iran and militant Islam since the 1979 revolution, which led to al-Qaeda, Hamas and Hezbollah. The other development is the multiplying threat of missile warfare.

Now Israel faces a third threat, the campaign to delegitimize it in order to extinguish its capacity for self-defense. After two uniquely perilous millennia for Jews, the creation of Israel meant, Netanyahu says, “the capacity for self-defense restored to the Jewish people.” But note, he says, the reflexive worldwide chorus of condemnation when Israel responded with force to rocket barrages from Gaza and from southern Lebanon. There is, he believes, a crystallizing consensus that “Israel is not allowed to exercise self-defense.”

And yesterday, former US Envoy to the UN, John Bolton said Israel has just a few days to act before Iran begins inserting fuel rods into it’s newly built nuke-you-lar reactor.

Israel has only mere days to launch an attack on Iran’s Bushehr nuclear reactor if Russia makes good on its plan to deliver fuel there this weekend, former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton warned Tuesday.

He said that once Russia has loaded the fuel into the reactor — slated for Saturday – Israel would no longer be willing to strike for fear of triggering widespread radiation in an attack.

Iran in effect is hiding behind human shields while it continues to arm itself with nuclear capabilities:

Iran, for its part, dismissed talk of a possible Israel strike.

On Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast was quoted as saying that “these threats of attacks had become repetitive and lost their meaning.” He also reportedly told correspondents in Tehran, “According to international law, installations which have real fuel cannot be attacked because of the humanitarian consequences.”

The rhetoric comes as the US increased sanctions on Iran as part of its ongoing efforts to ratchet up pressure on Tehran.

On Tuesday the US Treasury announced dozens of additional names of Iranian banks and individuals that fall under sanctions law.

So, while the Iranians continue to ratchet up their ability to attack our Israeli allies, our President and State department continue to run a racket of sanctions and weak diplomacy designed to look the other way while Israel is forced to defend itself alone.

Question:

Should we strike Iranian nuclear facilities before they load fuel into their reactor or complete their ability to enrich weapons grade plutonium?

Should Israel?

I believe we should and if we don’t strike first, we should at the very least provide backing forces to Israel when they do so. A nuclear Iran would be more emboldened to act out against our Israeli allies, just as any of the lesser factions surrounding them because of Iran’s implied nuclear umbrella of protection. We cannot allow this scenario to develop.

Will President Obama see the issue this way?

I’d doubt he has a pair. In fact, his previous actions suggest that he’ll use an Israeli strike as a reason to sanction or condemn Israel.

That would be a tragedy of unthinkable proportions.

What a shocker. Our first Muslim President backs a shrine to the 9/11 terrorists.

Via the Houston Chronicle:

Obama elevated it to a presidential issue Friday without equivocation.

While insisting that the place where the twin towers once stood was indeed “hallowed ground,” Obama said that the proper way to honor it was to apply American values.

Ummm, No.

The proper way to honor the 3000 killed at Ground Zero is to build a memorial to the victims and heros of that day, not a mosque that will in effect be a monument to what those in Islam believe to be a triumph over America. But then you don’t need me to explain that to you. You know full well what it means and are a perfectly willing accomplice in the attempt at Islamifying America and lying about the role of Muslims in our history.

From Familiy Security Matters via Gateway Pundit:

Sorry, Mr. Obama, but there were no Muslims among the passengers on the Mayflower or the settlers at Jamestown. Muslims were conspicuously absent from the ranks of George Washington’s Army of the Revolution and played no role in the creation of the American republic…

If you will lie about your faith. What won’t you lie about? Isn’t it S.O.P. for Muslims to lie in order to infiltrate their enemies’ rank and file?

We are besieged on all fronts and still most of America ignores the truth or is ignorant or silent.

America should show the world we will not stand for the desecration of our landmarks and the introduction and implementation of Islamic law in America. The first step to eradicating this threat to our American way of life should be the impeachment of Barack Hussein Obama, who clearly stands against our Constitution and every American tradition and value we hold sacred.

From The Northern Echo UK:

On line fight for British ex para’s release escalates as he is sent back to Afghan prison cell after failed court hearing

THOUSANDS of members of an on line support group are intensifying their fight to have a Teesside serviceman released from an Afghan jail after he was refused his freedom by the Afghan authorities at a court hearing. Anthony Malone 37, an ex paratrooper from Billingham is being held in Pul-i-Charkhi prison in Afghanistan for allegedly owing thousands of dollars.

These barbarians want nothing more than ransom money. Let’s let this soldier and his family know that we are aware of and support Anthony Malone’s cause.

To his credit, Malone is steadily demanding that no money be paid for his release.

“Anthony is a man of principle and insists on his innocence. He wants to leave Pul-i-Charkhi as a freeman with his name cleared.”

Our president may not be much in the way of treating our British allies with the dignity and respect they deserve, but we can at least show that the American people won’t abandon them.

HT Flying War Pigs

Pamela Geller, who is leading the fight against the ground zero mosque in New York, has posted the following letter from Tom Burnett Senior.

To our fellow 9/11 families and to all who are concerned about the Ground Zero mega-mosque in New York:

We want everyone to know that the Park Service is right now building an even larger Islamic victory mosque atop the Flight 93 crash site. Many of you were outraged in 2005 when the Crescent of Embrace design was unveiled to be a half-mile wide Islamic shaped crescent:

Crescent publicity shot and Islamic crescent and star
Left: 2005 publicity shot of the Crescent of Embrace design. Right: typical Islamic crescent and star, viewed from a similar angle.

Few people know that this giant crescent actually points to Mecca, or understand the religious significance of this orientation. A crescent that points the direction to Mecca is a very familiar construct in the Islamic world. Because Muslims face Mecca for prayer, every mosque is built around a Mecca direction indicator called a mihrab. The classic mihrab is crescent shaped. Here are the two most famous mihrabs in the world:

Crescent publicity shot and Islamic crescent and star
Left: the Mihrab of the Prophet, at the Prophet’s mosque in Medina. Right: the mihrab of the Great Mosque in Cordoba Spain.

Face into the crescent to face Mecca

As with the Medina and Cordoba mihrabs, a person facing into the Crescent of Embrace will be facing Mecca. In the image below, superimposed red lines show the orientation of the Flight 93 crescent. The green qibla circle is from an online Mecca-direction calculator:

60%SizeMeccaOrientationGraphic
A person standing between the tips of the crescent and facing into the center of the crescent (red arrow) will be facing almost exactly in “qibla” direction (the Muslim prayer direction). You can verify the qibla direction from Somerset PA using any number of on-line Mecca-direction calculators.

To be precise, the Crescent of Embrace points 1.8° north of Mecca, ± a tenth of a degree. The final construction drawings alter this orientation slightly, so that instead of pointing a little less than two degrees north of Mecca, the actual crescent will point less than three degrees south of Mecca. Such small deviations from Mecca are insignificant by Islamic standards, which developed over a period of more than a thousand years during which far flung Muslims had no accurate way to determine the direction to Mecca.

The Park Service does not call the Crescent of Embrace a crescent anymore. Now they call it Circle of Embrace, but the only actual change was to add an extra arc of trees (planted to the rear of a person facing into the giant crescent) that explicitly represents a broken off part of the circle. The unbroken part of the circle, what symbolically remains standing in the wake of 9/11, is just the original Crescent of Embrace. It is still a giant Islamic shaped crescent, still pointing at Mecca.

This is the Park Service’s official explanation for the design: the terrorist attacks are depicted as smashing our peaceful circle and turning it into a giant crescent. A clearer depiction of Islamic victory is hard to imagine, so no one should be too surprised that the damned thing points to Mecca, and actually turns out to be a mosque.

Other mosque features

Mosque design is based on a dozen typical mosque features, every one of which is realized in the Crescent/Circle design, all on the same epic scale as the half mile wide crescent-mihrab. Note, for instance, that the 93 foot tall minaret-like Tower of Voices is topped with another Islamic-shaped crescent, akin to the crescent-topped minarets seen in many Islamic countries:

60%SizeMeccaOrientationGraphic
An Islamic shaped crescent, soaring in the sky above the symbolic lives of the 40 heroes, which literally dangle down below. In Islam, there is only heaven and hell. Symbolic damnation?

The Flight 93 mosque needs to be stopped, along with the Islamic victory mosque at ground zero in Manhattan. May the fight against these two desecrations strengthen each other.

Sincerely,

Tom Burnett Senior
Loving father of Flight 93 hero Tom Burnett Junior

Pamela’s Atlas Shrugs post includes a second letter from Mr. Burnett, thanking her for her help and passing on some information about the design selection process. (The vote for was 9 to 6 from a judging panel where family members were outnumbered 8-7 by left wing design professionals.)

Ten Gallon Hat Tip to Nice Deb

This news really made my day this afternoon.

I’m happy to report that Yousef has been allowed to stay in the US.

The Save Mosab Yousef Website has links to all the info.

Kudos to Maggie of Maggie’s Notebook, The Lonely Conservative and Bob Belvedere of  The Camp Of The Saints for bringing Mosab’s story into the open and giving us the opportunity to show our support.

Bob Belvedere has an update on the plight of Mosab Yousef and some disturbing speculation.

As you can tell by the banner prominently displayed on this page, I support this brave young man and pray for his safety.

Visit Bob’s site for the lowdown.

Via Gateway Pundit:

A top-ranking official in Hamas said Friday that the terror group is holding talks with the Obama Administration. They want to keep the meetings secret for fear it would rouse the Jewish lobby in the United States.

This will not end well.

Hope and change. Hope and change. *blech*

H/T Amusing Bunni on FB.

Wow. It seems like everybody who’s anybody is talking about this. No Sheeples Here has a post on it and I heard about it from Obi’s Sister.

It’s being reported that 17 Afghan soldiers here for training are loose in the US, and have been for about 2 years or less and we are just now hearing of it. The reports are somewhat vague as to the duration of individual cases although I might infer that they have been filtering out into the population in small numbers.

Some are questioning why the reports are only being released now. Fox News quotes an unnamed senior law enforcement official:

“Although we are vigilant and need to work toward not allowing this to happen,” the official said, this alert should “not necessarily” be described as “a national security threat, more of a ‘hey these guys violated our laws and we need to find them.'”

OK sport, maybe you could look for about 12 million or so illegal immigrants while you’re at it. Both cases are quite similar with the exception that we transported these possible terrorists here at taxpayer expense. I hear we have some neat new detention facilities in which to house these guys, should they ever be caught. They could learn basket weaving with the rest of  ’em.

I can tell you the first place I would look for these guys, it’s a place that they would fit right in, never to be noticed.

The Obama Administration.

Glenn Beck sent out an email on it earlier today and Fox also has some info, including the names and Memeorandum has more info along with Scared Monkeys, The Jawa Report, Weasel Zippers, Confederate Yankee, Atlas Shrugs, Liberty Pundits Blog, Patterico’s Pontifications and And So it Goes in Shreveport

Another question, why don’t they post the photos? Are they afraid someone might recognize one of them? Am I supposed to go up to random Afghan looking dude and ask “Hey, aren’t you… *picks out random name from list* Mohammad Nasim Fateh Zada, born 12/4/1966?” I can’t even pronounce it. Besides, that would be racial profiling, wouldn’t it?

As Obi’s Sister says, “What could go wrong?”

Anyone Still Wondering Where This PC Bullshit Is Going Better Take A Look  At Britain.

Via twitter friend JihadHunter some disturbing images and a story to wake up the drowsy, that is if you want to be awakened at all. If not, sorry ’bout your bad luck.

From the UK Daily Mail:

Screaming hate and brandishing vile placards, Muslim extremists and far-Right groups clashed yesterday in ugly scenes that marred a parade by soldiers.

Around 40 members of a group called Muslims Against the Crusades (MAC) arrived with inflammatory banners featuring slogans such as ‘Butchers return’ and ‘What are you dying for? £18k’.

Now the good news. Some of our English brethren are tired of the BS as well:

They were soon confronted by 100 people, some wearing English Defence League T-shirts, who shouted ‘scum’ and ‘Muslim bombers off our streets’.

Thank God for anyone willing to stand up to this vile attempt at defaming defenders of freedom. Who do these idiots think protect their right to protest in the first place?
