Founding Fathers
This holiday is a dichotomy for me. While I plan to celebrate the American ideal, I must also mourn it’s loss by erosion and atrophy. The fact is that too many Americans have abandoned their love of liberty. They either lack the courage to defend it, or know not what they’ve lost and feebly attempt to disguise their apathy or ignorance with claims of overwork and family obligations.
“I just don’t have time.” “We can’t change anything anyway.” or “I voted! What else can I do?”
While somewhat understandable due to the ‘Hate America First’ crowd populating our higher education system, this situation is absolutely unacceptable.
Pay attention, please!
What could possibly be more important than the world you leave to the family you claim to be working for?
This country was founded with the demand that we citizens hold the government accountable and as such it’s our solemn duty to be vigilant and educate ourselves; especially to question every carrot some politician offers for a block of votes.
Part of me wishes the deniers would just be truthful and admit to their selfish apathetic attitude but even then I’ve had enough of their disregard for the outright treason going on in the high halls of our government.
We should be lighting the streets of Washington DC with torches and pitchforks, pushing carts with caldrons of tar and bags of feathers for every Progressive we can lay our hands on!
Instead, most of the hapless, uneducated, indoctrinated sheeple will celebrate their faux freedoms with government approved USDA beef, cooked with EPA tested charcoal and FDA stamped BBQ sauce served on a table illuminated with gov’t mandated, mercury filled light bulbs that require a permit for disposal, powered with electricity delivered through “smart” meters that will soon be limiting the amount of power they are allowed to consume and the happy serfs will never give a moment’s thought to any of it.
“Thank you, Government for the food we are about to receive…” They may as well say.
Need a loaf of FDA approved bread and a twelve pack of pasteurized processed beer to help numb the senses to your lack of liberty? Go right ahead! You’re free to find the nearest convenience store run by immigrants who receive a tax break and subsidy but if you plan on driving that car, you’d better strap on a seat belt for your own safety. We wouldn’t want you killing yourself in an accident making you unable to pay back the insurance companies who apparently rule our lives because we’re too stoopid and incapable to do so ourselves. Not to mention, if a nice helpful revenue assessor officer of the law decides you’ve had one beer too many because the county and state need to fund a few ongoing, never-ending money pits downtown/highway/school beautification or government vote buying entitlement projects (Hey! This one’s got a job!). You’ll likely be forced to give some specimen in a twisted, technological violation of the Fifth or Fourth amendments to be used as evidence against you in a modern-day kangaroo court. (Ever hear of a No Refusal Law?)
Ah Freedom: Wonder what that felt like. You know, I think I once actually thought we were free, and slowly but surely I realized the illusion of liberty was the curtain of OZ and just like the tale, we aren’t supposed to peel that curtain back. Unfortunately, unlike Dorothy with her traveling band of truth seekers, the man behind the curtain isn’t a cute, cuddly, benevolent old man who resembles our kindly uncle. Behind the curtain, is the great and devouring leviathan, its hour come round at last, now slouching towards Bethlehem to be born. (Apologies to Yeats.)
Whatever hides beyond the veil you can be assured it has no designs for your safety or security except as a ruse to steal more of your freedoms.
Remember the phrase: “It’s for the children.”? Well guess what, we are “the children”. Get used to it. Your body is no longer your property, let alone your land, your vehicle or your actual children. The state now lays claim to them all in more ways I care to count. It takes a village alright. A village of idiots to swallow the lies we’re continually asked to believe.
Enjoy your Fourth of July, comrades.
The “transformation” is almost complete.

Note: If this seems unreasonable to you, then I emplore you to get off your ass and DO SOMETHING about it. Donate your time and money to conservative candidates, then STAY involved. We will not turn it around in one election any more than it took one election to get us here. It’s past time to be what the founders intended us to be: Educated, Informed and Involved.
…if you don’t want to be labeled racist or xenophobic.
I don’t know him, nor have ever read his work until yesterday. I’m sure he’s a nice enough fellow but I have a wee quibble with Roger at EagleForum.org.
The headline in question:
The headline(s) that could have been:
America is becoming non-American
Or more to the point
American Atrophy: The Insidious Effects of Globalism, Socialism and Illegal Immigration
While we’re at it, a few more:
A Country with No Borders Is Not a Country At All
———————
Taxed, Borderless and Stupid Is No Way to Go through Life, Son.
———————
Where’s Waldo? Washington? – The Loss of the American Ideology
Enough? OK.
Hey, I understand the need for a snappy title but by any accounting, the premise of the original headline isn’t even accurate, nor has it ever been. Without consulting any census, I think we can agree that America has never been 100% white. Even the original immigrants weren’t all white so to say “becoming non-white” implies America was once all white.
I think it closer to the truth to say that, given the current influx of immigrants and the current birthrates, American whites are on a course to minority status. To presume America is becoming non-white just invites political backlash. Such is the danger in the attempt to grab attention. In this case, the critique shouldn’t be unexpected or necessarily unwarranted, even if the critics are being a bit extreme.
So what’s the Point?
I worry less about the birthrate of any particular demographic and more about what is being taught about the American way of life. What does it matter if comparatively fewer whites are being born in America when what the people in the country are being taught isn’t truly American to begin with? One cannot deny that the Progressives have nearly succeeded in their conquest of academia and thus are educating the educators and future leaders alike. The basic tenets of our Constitution such as Natural Law, Property Rights and Personal Liberty are now being undermined. They are being subtly and overtly proclaimed as regressive when in fact the Progressive Agenda aims for a return to a more repressed society. It’s a simple as this:
Larger Government = Less Freedom,
Less Government = More Freedom
For those not keeping score, we are currently immersed in a “Larger Government” scenario with the trend set to expand ever more if left un-checked.
When I hear the Speaker of the House reply to a question about the constitutionality of a law with a smug and disdainful “Are you serious?” I find more than a little cause for alarm. Progressives in the media and academia are at the forefront of the attack on traditional American values, virtue and freedom. Any criticism of liberal policy is met with school-girlish shrieks of emotional caterwauling and the facts of fiscal insolvency and overreaching statism are tossed out like yesterdays aborted babies. Just another necessary casualty in the quest for faux-freedom: the freedom from conscience.
No, we are not becoming non-white. We are losing our American Identity through dis-use and atrophy. Over time the exercise of our freedom has been increasingly limited by tiny, incremental adjustments and a majority of people haven’t noticed. It’s a Generational Creep that you will be ridiculed for speaking up about because the alternative is too scary. Some would have the law be our “Linus’ Blanket,” to make us feel better about ourselves and offering an illusion of safety when true safety is a myth. It cannot be attained through the application of any law or regulation. Never mind that most any law passed to perform such safety measures will invariably be used as a revenue generator at best and at worse a power tool over individual freedom.
The effect of not teaching American Constitutional Principles and Generation Creep is never more evident than in the illegal immigration issue. How else can you explain the relatively miniscule federal reaction to and public tolerance of 30 million uninvited guests crossing our borders in an invasion of sheer numbers?
The greater issue as I see it is the influx of un-American Ideals as evidenced by too many sleepwalking voters in 2008 willing to take a handout from the government. It’s time to have a little pride in yourselves and realize the majority of our problems are caused by too much government and the only way to fix it is by decreasing the government’s involvement in our affairs.
Instead of worrying so much about how many non-white babies are being born, we should be fighting to teach those newborn Americans about the freedoms envisioned by our founders.

I know I haven’t written anything in a while. Too much going on at work and at home to commit any brain cells to the task. I’ve also been preparing for the coming zombie apocalypse and attempting to convince my closest friends that their world is about to be flipped inside out if the newly elected officials don’t turn the tide tsunami of socialist, infanticidal fantasists running rampant in the halls of government and the main stream media.
We must become hyper-vigilant to any expression of progressive thought or action and take steps to combat it immediately at every instance. We must continue to recruit the newly awakened to the cause of saving America from within. The other option will surely lead us to riots in the streets much like we witnessed recently in Greece. Make no mistake, those people took to the streets because their government sold them socialism and either a) they now realize it is a lie, that the ponzi scheme has run its course, or more likely, b) they are whining about the well running dry and want another handout. Either way, the people have become slaves to their government. The idea of self reliance has been tossed out the window.
The more recent rioting in Tunisia and Egypt, in my opinion, have less to do with socialism than outright despotism, which is the next phase of any socialistic government. Unfortunately, uprisings, even ones calling for a democratic republic can be hijacked by outside influences, as could be the case with the Muslim Brotherhood attempting to move in to take power in the coming vacuum.
MARGARET THATCHER:
The problem with socialism is that you eventually, run out of other people’s money.
There is a simple fact that must be recognized as such. Utopia can not be found or created in a world under human control or creation. Humans are flawed and anything we create will be flawed as well. Giving too much power to too few people will always and inevitably result in abuse of that power. That is why the constitution should be held as sacred. The founders knew of our imperfect nature and put safeguards in place to hold government in check, on a leash, so to speak, and like a sandstone statue in the wind, the constitution was immediately set upon by the winds of ne’er-do-wells and progressives to erode the fingers that hold that leash.
I pray for our country and our people. I’m worried about my family, my neighbors and their children if we continue on this path of gimme gimme gimme more government with no thought of where the government gets it to give and no shame in it when the receiver is aware of the deal.
Entitlements and wealth redistribution, welfare, class envy and reparations, open borders, government takeovers, political correctness, crony capitalism and over regulation by nameless, faceless minions must cease, or we will cease to exist as a sovereign nation, what’s worse is, I fear we teeter on the brink of absolute despotism should our situation decline much further. The last hundred years of constant abuse has beaten a once proud and mighty standard to the point of withering tatters. Can anyone look at the state of America and the world and honestly tell me the current model is sustainable? To do so is to lie to yourself and to your fellow Americans.
I believe:
We must return to self reliance.
We must lose the idea that equality of opportunity is the same as equality of outcome.
EDWARD GIBBON:
In the end, more than freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all – security, comfort, and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again.
We must retake the high ground in our institutions of learning and in the halls of power, leading in word and deed in what is the right and true way to live ones life, not feeding off the labors of others but creating for oneself that which is desired.
This is what true Americans have done in the past and still wish to do, if we can shake loose the shackles our government would choke us with.
Let us honor those who have given their lives for the ideas of America’s founding by devoting our lives to the return of those principles.
Amen.
Goes to the blogger known as Editor, who operates the blog Spellchek. Editor has written a very good piece in which he asks us to compare liberty as it existed in 1776 to the “liberty” we experience in America today.
An excerpt:
By any measure, we now live under a shadow of what liberty once was. Everything is relative and we accept a much lower standard to still call us free. The Constitution is now called outdated. We are told our society has evolved and that the principles outlined in the Constitution no longer apply to a modern society. All of these scenarios were pre-warned by the Founders. They wrote it down. They relayed it in speeches. This is why many are so incredulous that this is happening to our country today. The warnings were issued and history has shown us that the template has been followed to a tee. Of course, today we have an astounding wealth of information at our fingertips about the subject, yet it is still a debate.
How is it that we still debate the definition of liberty? Our government and educational system have done us all a grave disservice by ceasing to teach the principles upon which this country was founded. Yet there are still those who understand what true liberty means and the threats it must endure.
Liberty will never exist unmolested. The more free we are, the more some will want to take it away. It was never a matter of declaring it and just being done with it. So many of us have no concept of what true liberty is or ever was…
Editor then explores a short scenario of what it may take to regain the liberty as defined by the Founders in our Constitution. An excellent read indeed. But don’t take my word for it.
See for yourself. Spellchek: Liberty 1776 vs. 2010
Never mind the fact that we have a president who subverts the very documents we celebrate today by appointing czars and creating government organizations through executive order that are unaccountable to the people who pay their salaries. Never mind the fact that he swore an oath to uphold the very Constitution he walks on.
Today let us pledge to re-read the Constitution, it’s quite short, really. What it does, in just a few pages, is limit the powers of government with relation to it’s citizens, not grant rights to them. It states implicitly that the rights we enjoy are granted from our creator, not the government, and the government’s place is to protect those rights from encroachment by other citizens, corporations, or other governments including our own. It creates a self limiting government to serve the will of the people, not a ruling class, empowered to rule by decree and ignore the rule of law.
Let’s empower ourselves to re-establish the government envisioned in that Constitution by learning the tools the Founders gave us to combat the tyranny that resides in men, for it is ever present, always ready to throw bonds of slavery upon a sleeping giant. It is past time for the giant to awake. We’ve been hitting the snooze button for far too long.
God Bless America, and the citizens who protect her.

I used to be one on the sidelines. One could have labeled me liberal in that I didn’t understand the thoughts and feelings that stirred me deeply were Conservative and Libertarian in nature and ignored them in my debauchery. As time passed I worked my day job and played music with a band of Pure Liberals, these were people who actually believed they were not taxed enough and that government was the answer to any and all problems, even and especially the ones it caused. I instinctively understood that my beliefs were wholly different, that self reliance and true liberty was not a part of their ideology. They spoke of something to which I could not ascribe.
Thus began a transformation. I began to realize that, while I may not be college educated as my band-mates were, one of them in fact being a professor and holding a doctorate, that I still could not agree, in fact must disagree, with the viewpoints espoused by my musical brethren. I began to read and educate myself as to the beginnings of our country and why the Founders chose the method of our governance, how the Constitution is not a “living, breathing” document, that some would have us believe can be interpreted as an activist judge or corrupt city council sees fit. Our system of government is not a Democracy but a Constitutional Republic that must be defended each and every day by the very people who desire to live under it’s divinely inspired protection.
Then I began to discover how blind most people really are to their Federal Government and how little it is allowed Constitutionally, to do to them.
Around this time I discovered “the blogs,” some liberal, some conservative or libertarian, and many of whom I still read to this day, one of which is the featured blog of the week.
You see…
Once upon a time there was a man who disparaged his government and ridiculed their mismanagement in seclusion or in beer joints and pubs across the southeastern side of Texas with relatively little fanfare. While his rantings and ravings didn’t slow in tenacity or decrease in venom, he started to find a need for a forum of greater magnitude to vent his frustration because he knew with more and more certainty as time passed that if he and many others did not shout and scream and pitch a hissy fit full of logic and reasoning in combination with the wild-eyed passion for God and Country and Freedom, that the objects of those loves would soon be gone.
One of the reasons this man chose to embark on the journal you now read was a website called Washington Rebel.
The contributors to Washington Rebel know these things with every fiber of their being; and when you visit The Reb, you will find a fearlessness of thought that quickens the heart and bolsters the spirit. As one who is in need of such things every now and again, I truly appreciate their hard work and bodacious attitude.
Now that you know a part of my story. I would encourage you to partake in some Rebel goodness for yourself, but be aware, they of the Reb fear not to speak their minds with some essay of assault on the weak minded or to assail you with the beauty of Gods female creation.
God Bless the Reb.
