The Peter Morrison Report

Summary of this week’s report:

The people of Arizona are attempting to defend their state from a
massive invasion of illegal invaders that has brought crime,
poverty and skyrocketing costs for welfare and other public
services. Barack Obama’s Department of Justice has gone to court
to try to have SB 1070 invalidated. This is not just Arizona’s
fight; we are all in this together, and we must stand with Arizona
if we are to keep all of America from turning into a third world
country. Unfortunately, while Rick Perry has spoken in support of
Arizona, he continues to insist that Texas doesn’t need an
Arizona-style law to deal with our own illegals crisis. Please
send Governor Perry a fax and let him know he can no longer waffle
on this critical issue:

Full Report:

Not long ago, the legislature of Arizona passed the now famous SB
1070, which made being in Arizona illegally a state crime, and
authorized local law enforcement officials to start cracking down
on illegal aliens. Naturally, as soon as the bill was passed, the
name calling from the left began, and hasn’t stopped since. Terms
like “nazi”, “racist”, “totalitarian”, etc. were used to describe
the people and legislature of Arizona for trying to defend
themselves from the massive invasion of illegal aliens which is
transforming their state, and many groups are boycotting Arizona
over the issue.

Barack Obama’s Department of Justice went even further, suing
Arizona in federal court, seeking to have the law thrown out. The
DOJ claims that SB 1070 is unconstitutional because enforcing
immigration laws is the responsibility of the federal government,
not state governments. Never mind that the feds aren’t enforcing
the laws on the federal books. Obama’s position boils down to
“we’re not going to do a thing to stop illegal immigration, and
neither are you. Just because we refuse to do our job doesn’t give
you the right to do it, no matter how much damage illegal
immigration is doing to Arizona.” They’re going after Arizona now,
but this isn’t just Arizona’s fight. Every American who cares
about the future of the Unites States is in this battle. This
wasn’t just a declaration of war against Arizona; it was a
declaration of war against all of us.

That suit is in federal court right now, and for once it looks like
a federal judge is using common sense. Nearly every time a state
passes a law having to do with illegal aliens, liberals manage to
find a federal judge somewhere who will invalidate the law. There
are too many federal judges, and they have far too much power, and
they almost always rule against us when it comes to these kinds of
cases. This time, though, it looks like leftists may not get their
way. We can’t say for certain how she is going to rule, but Judge
Susan Bolton has made it clear that she’s deeply skeptical of the
DOJ’s argument that the Arizona law is an illegal preemption of
federal law.

Some remarks she has made during the trial are revealing. To the
ACLU attorney demanding she block the law before it even takes
effect, she said: “Why can’t Arizona be as inhospitable as they
wish to people who have entered or remained in the United States
illegally? Who am I to stop the state of Arizona?” At another
point Judge Bolton asked the attorney for the DOJ: “How is there a
preemption issue? I understand there may be other issues, but
you’re arguing preemption. Where is the preemption if everybody who
is arrested for some crime has their immigration status checked?”

It sounds promising for a sensible verdict, but it’s an outrage
that this is even in court at all. The chief role of the federal
government is to protect its citizens against invasion by
foreigners. It’s bad enough that they refuse to do that, but when
they go after states for trying to protect themselves, Obama and
the rest of DC are eroding the very legitimacy of the federal
government. Rampant, brutal violence along the border is out of
control, and not just in Arizona. Last month, shots fired from
Juarez hit the El Paso City Hall. In Laredo, the mayor is asking
for federal help in dealing with the lawlessness on the border
there, saying local law enforcement is overwhelmed. In 2006,
violence from drug smugglers and human traffickers in Arizona’s
Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge led George Bush to make 3500
acres of the park off-limits to American citizens. Instead of
sending troops to protect our borders, Bush effectively ceded 3500
acres of American soil to Mexico, and Obama has done nothing to
reverse it.

Instead, Obama attacked Arizonans for trying to protect themselves
from this invasion, and put the rest of America on notice that he’s
going to fight tooth and nail against any attempt to thwart the
ongoing invasion by illegals. He knows how popular SB 1070 is;
according to many polls, approximately 70 percent of Arizonans
support the law, and the numbers are similar across America.
Already, 20 more states are talking about passing their own version
of SB 1070, because they recognize just what is at stake, and many
Attorney Generals from across America filed amicus briefs in the
court case over SB 1070, siding with Arizona, including Texas’ own
Greg Abbott. In Arizona, Governor Jan Brewer’s poll numbers in the
upcoming election skyrocketed after she signed SB 1070 into law.
Obama has learned nothing from this overwhelming show of support
from Americans for SB 1070; he’s now talking about filing yet
another lawsuit against Arizona. He seems bound and determined to
completely destroy the legitimacy of the federal government in the
eyes of the American people.

Here in Texas, we desperately need our own version of SB 1070, but
Governor Rick Perry is missing in action. It’s true that he did
say he supports Attorney General Greg Abbott in filing the amicus
brief, but Perry continues to insist that an SB 1070 type of law
“isn’t right for Texas.” When asked why, he says that “every state
is different”, which is a complete non sequitur. Of course every
state is different, but the harmful effects of the invasion by
illegal are no different in Texas than in Arizona. Governor Perry
is trying to have it both ways with these weasel words, but it’s
time to take a clear cut stand for Texas citizens, and against
illegal immigration. The time for waffling is over. As Jesus said
to the church at Laodicea: “I know thy works, that thou art
neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then
because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue
thee out of my mouth.” Rick Perry needs to make up his mind – is
he on our side, or on the side of the illegal aliens?

Take action:

Fax Governor Rick Perry and tell him it’s time to stop speaking out
of both sides of his mouth, to start doing the right thing, and to
work with the Texas legislature to give us our own version of
Arizona’s SB 1070.

Also, please call, write or fax your local state Representative and
Senator, and urge them to pass a bill like SB 1070 as soon as
possible. If you need to look up their contact info, you can do so
