Ten Buck Fridays
Some random thoughts before I commence on the weekend duties:
From Joel’s website:
I cannot sit still while our country goes down a road that has proven to lead to financial ruin. For my children and yours, my family has decided to embark on this journey to help restore some sanity to Washington.
Thanks to Right Klik for running the Ten Buck Fridays poll and Conscientiously Conservative for coming up with the original concept. Great work both of you and the over 80 bloggers who participate. Speaking of CC, I just looked and realized, she’s not on my blogroll! DOH!
Wait a second while I correct that omission.
We’re down to the last few weeks of the campaign season. Is it just me or do any of you feel a bit burned out from all of the politics? I know I am. Not being a career political junkie or reporter, this season has got to be the most focused I’ve ever been on politics. It wears on a robot. I need a good lube job. And a shot of rum. How do the politicians do it? Are they all on coke?
After the election, I’m going to form a new band or at least join one. I’m feeling the urge to beat on some skins and stretch out the vocal chords. I’ve definitely got some frustration that needs venting. Not sure how much of those happenings I’ll post on this blog though, as some people are more interested in politics than music and I like my political anonymity. I may have to start another, just to separate the two. Or maybe another page on this one. It’s up in the air for now. We’ll see.
For the rest of the weekend, posting may be lite. My freaking DSL is on the fritz again. Come this Tuesday, that problem will hopefully be solved. The ‘bot is going to cable. Buh-Bye ATT with your dropped service every 5 minutes and a ten minute post taking an hour to complete. Also, my house needs cleaning and the studio needs some maintenance. Bottom line is, it’s just too pretty outside to spend dealing with an off and on internet connection, so there you have it.
Speaking of music, here’s one of my faves from the Doobies:
Enjoy your weekend, my friends.
With thanks to Right Klik:
Ten Buck Fridays congratulates Dale Glading on his victory in this week’s TBF poll.
Here’s a little background information on Mr. Glading:
Dale Glading, 50, is the Founder and Executive Director of The Saints Prison Ministry. Headquartered in Moorestown, New Jersey, “The Saints” is the largest athletic prison ministry in the country with branch offices in Charlotte, NC, and Colorado Springs, CO…
A lifetime resident of South Jersey, Dale earned a Bachelor of Science degree with summa cum laude honors in Community Recreation from Temple University in 1981. He served as Recreation Director at the Wiley Christian Retirement Community for 10 years before entering full-time ministry with The Saints in 1994. During his years at Wiley, Dale developed a deep empathy for seniors and an understanding of the issues that concern them most…
Dale Glading on the issues: (excerpts)
It is time that the career politicians in Washington stopped trying to buy votes with taxpayers’ money and learned to live within their means instead. That is why I support Rep. Mike Pence’s proposed Balanced Budget Amendment that limits government spending to 20% of the GDP. I have also endorsed Rep. Todd Tiahrt’s bill to place a moratorium on all federal earmarks…
When I think about education, I consider two very important factors. The first is that our children are our most precious treasures as well as the greatest “natural resource†that America has. Second, competition breeds excellence in every area of life, including education.
That’s why I strongly support the idea of school choice. Failing schools shouldn’t be rewarded with a locked-in clientele, and children suffering in underperforming schools shouldn’t be relegated to receiving a substandard education simply because of where they live…
…how about lowering the corporate tax rate which is currently the second highest in the world? That would make American companies more competitive internationally and provide business owners with the capital they need to expand and hire more workers.
And while we’re at it, how about lowering the income tax rates for ALL Americans so we have more disposable income to better care for our families and better fuel the economy. The bottom line is that we all work hard for our money and as such, we should all be able to keep more of it…

The new Ten Buck Friday poll is up. You’ll notice that John Faulk from (TX- 18), is again included. I know you know who I voted for, right? Mr. Faulk is running against that train-wreck queen Sheila Jackson Lee, who is featured, not in a good way, as one of the 11 Texans who voted for Obamacare on this site somewhere or another.
With a solid majority of the votes, Jesse Kelly wins this week’s Ten Buck Fridays poll.Jesse Kelly is a enthusiastic Reagan Republican who has earned the endorsement of Mark Levin. In my estimation, there’s no more convincing evidence of one’s conservative credentials than a seal of approval from “the Great One.” But don’t take Levin’s word for it. Listen to Jesse Kelly speak for himself. You’ll be thoroughly impressed, I guarantee it:
Jesse Kelly beat a liberal Republican in the primary, now he faces a Obama Democrat in the general election. If you haven’t started giving to conservative candidates on a weekly basis, now is the time to start, and Jesse Kelly is an exceptional candidate to start out with. The election is almost here, folks…less than 40 days to go!
B.J. Lawson wins this week’s “Ten Buck Fridays” poll.B.J. Lawson is a young physician from North Carolina (NC-04) who was running against an entrenched liberal incumbent back in 2008, back before it was so cool to do so. Dr. Lawson has returned in 2010, riding the red wave that promises to sweep away liberals all over the country.Lawson has been endorsed by the U.S. Senate’s most courageously stubborn defender of the Constitution, Tom Coburn (R-OK).
Senator Tom Coburn, the leading Medical Doctor in the U.S. Senate endorsed B.J. Lawson today.“Our health care system is broken, and has only been made worse by this administration’s actions. Americans face skyrocketing medical costs with declining quality and availability due to oppressive big government policies.Reversing these trends demands leadership that will return health care to patients and physicians, and get government and insurance bureaucracies out of our exam rooms.
I’m proud to endorse Dr. William (B.J.) Lawson in his campaign for Congress in North Carolina’s 4th District. As physicians, we have sworn to uphold the Hippocratic Oath — putting patients first, and above all else, doing no harm. As public servants, we swear to uphold the United States Constitution and protect the freedoms of the American people. Dr. Lawson will stand with me in the United States Congress in support of these sacred principles.
I hope that conservative bloggers across the country will join me in promoting and supporting B.J. Lawson for Congress. If you can, please send a few dollars his way…

Longtime readers of this blog and Hot Air know the extraordinary story of Ilario Pantano’s heroism. He’s the Marine sniper-turned-Wall Street trader who rejoined the military after 9/11, faced the death penalty for killing two Iraqi insurgents in the heat of battle in a terrorist-infested town near Baghdad, fought fiercely and successfully to clear his name, wrote the book Warlord chronicling his experiences, and defended other defenders who volunteer to put themselves in harm’s way for their countrymen.
Pantano is continuing his journey of public service in the political square. He’s running against Democrat incumbent Rep. Mike McIntyre in North Carolina’s 7th district. UNC Wilmington prof andTownhall columnist Mike Adams has a nice profile of Pantano here.Pantano’s website is here: He’s on a mission to protect the homeland, preserve conservative values, and increase fiscal accountability. Please lend your support to a warrior who put his life on the line for America.

The latest TBF poll is up on the sidebar. As usual, Right Klik has all the pertinent info:
We’re working to fill a leadership vacuum that has resulted from the failures of the Washington-based Republican establishment.
When the Bob Etheridge story broke, I was pleased to learn that Bob had a viable opponent, Renee Ellmers. And as read more about Ellmers, I discovered that she isn’t just viable, she’s actually a formidable conservative candidate. As a Registered Nurse who works as Clinical Director of a Wound Care Center, Ellmers is keenly interested in taking a serious and proactive stand against the democrats’ health control legislation.
Now that the benevolent Democratic tyrants in Washington have appointed themselves to be our health care “deciders,” it’s good to see so many conservative health care professionals running for Congress. These are people who have demanding careers, but they’ve decided they can no longer stay on the political sidelines. Both the top two candidates in this week’s photo-finish TBF poll are health care providers who are determined to dismantle ObamaCare and replace it with real health care reform. Unfortunately, however, conservatives like Renee Ellmers and Dan Benishek can’t always rely on the GOP establishment for the support they need. Recent events have reminded us that conservative reform is a threat to the GOP establishment.
That’s why we must unite at the grassroots level to defeat statism. We have to invest our own resources in order to restore our freedom. Don’t wait for someone else to do it. Get involved now by giving money directly to a candidate who deserves your help. Including today, there are only 10 Fridays between now and the November elections. Conservatives all over the country urgently need our help. This Friday, please make a generous donation to Renee Ellmers.
I just made my donation… now it’s your turn!
Don’t forget to make a note of Ten Buck Fridays in the donation form.
