Freedom

This holiday is a dichotomy for me. While I plan to celebrate the American ideal, I must also mourn it’s loss by erosion and atrophy. The fact is that too many Americans have abandoned their love of liberty. They either lack the courage to defend it, or know not what they’ve lost and feebly attempt to disguise their apathy or ignorance with claims of overwork and family obligations.

“I just don’t have time.” “We can’t change anything anyway.” or “I voted! What else can I do?”

While somewhat understandable due to the ‘Hate America First’ crowd populating our higher education system, this situation is absolutely unacceptable.

Pay attention, please!

What could possibly be more important than the world you leave to the family you claim to be working for?

This country was founded with the demand that we citizens hold the government accountable and as such it’s our solemn duty to be vigilant and educate ourselves; especially to question every carrot some politician offers for a block of votes.

Part of me wishes the deniers would just be truthful and admit to their selfish apathetic attitude but even then I’ve had enough of their disregard for the outright treason going on in the high halls of our government.

We should be lighting the streets of Washington DC with torches and pitchforks, pushing carts with caldrons of tar and bags of feathers for every Progressive we can lay our hands on!

Instead, most of the hapless, uneducated, indoctrinated sheeple will celebrate their faux freedoms with government approved USDA beef, cooked with EPA tested charcoal and FDA stamped BBQ sauce served on a table illuminated with gov’t mandated, mercury filled light bulbs that require a permit for disposal, powered with electricity delivered through “smart” meters that will soon be limiting the amount of power they are allowed to consume and the happy serfs will never give a moment’s thought to any of it.

“Thank you, Government for the food we are about to receive…” They may as well say.

Need a loaf of FDA approved bread and a twelve pack of pasteurized processed beer to help numb the senses to your lack of liberty? Go right ahead! You’re free to find the nearest convenience store run by immigrants who receive a tax break and subsidy but if you plan on driving that car, you’d better strap on a seat belt for your own safety. We wouldn’t want you killing yourself in an accident making you unable to pay back the insurance companies who apparently rule our lives because we’re too stoopid and incapable to do so ourselves. Not to mention, if a nice helpful revenue assessor officer of the law decides you’ve had one beer too many because the county and state need to fund a few ongoing, never-ending money pits downtown/highway/school beautification or government vote buying entitlement projects (Hey! This one’s got a job!). You’ll likely be forced to give some specimen in a twisted, technological violation of the Fifth or Fourth amendments to be used as evidence against you in a modern-day kangaroo court. (Ever hear of a No Refusal Law?)

Ah Freedom: Wonder what that felt like. You know, I think I once actually thought we were free, and slowly but surely I realized the illusion of liberty was the curtain of OZ and just like the tale, we aren’t supposed to peel that curtain back. Unfortunately, unlike Dorothy with her traveling band of truth seekers, the man behind the curtain isn’t a cute, cuddly, benevolent old man who resembles our kindly uncle. Behind the curtain, is the great and devouring leviathan, its hour come round at last, now slouching towards Bethlehem to be born. (Apologies to Yeats.)

Whatever hides beyond the veil you can be assured it has no designs for your safety or security except as a ruse to steal more of your freedoms.

Remember the phrase: “It’s for the children.”? Well guess what, we are “the children”. Get used to it. Your body is no longer your property, let alone your land, your vehicle or your actual children. The state now lays claim to them all in more ways I care to count. It takes a village alright. A village of idiots to swallow the lies we’re continually asked to believe.

Enjoy your Fourth of July, comrades.

The “transformation” is almost complete.

Note: If this seems unreasonable to you, then I emplore you to get off your ass and DO SOMETHING about it. Donate your time and money to conservative candidates, then STAY involved. We will not turn it around in one election any more than it took one election to get us here. It’s past time to be what the founders intended us to be: Educated, Informed and Involved.

Remember the Socia.List?  That menagerie of miscreants comprising the 1000 State Legislators who signed the PSN letter urging passage of Obamacare? Don’t think for a minute they’ve been eradicated. In fact, they’ve recruited quite a few more to their ranks. See, these new recruits recently signed on to be surrogates for Captain Apology under the guise of…

[Queue ominous, badly played, western diminuendo…]

“The Texas Truth Team”

Inspires confidence, doesn’t it? I guess maybe it could, if one ignored the party affiliation and the fact they are propaganda ministers for Dear Leader.

Hey. Guys. Seriously. Next time you decided to form a new band, for heaven’s sake call me for some name suggestions.

Here’s a few off the top of my tin-clad head:

Social Justice League

Reparation Station

The Projectors

Tools of the Tirade

Death Cab for Baby

Marxed-Out

The Keystone Keynesians

Foetus Non Esse

No Borders

Of course, you’re encouraged to add your own suggestions in the comments.

As an example of the dangerously misguided, wacked-out messianic complex the Dem’s have for their chosen one, I offer their own national Truth Team logo, spotted by Glenn Beck’s personal truth team, who astutely point out:

Usually a capitalized ‘He’ or ‘His’ would be reserved for 1) the first word of a sentence or 2) God so what is Obama saying…?

So, just for fun, what say we pay a visit to the Texas leader of these truth-telling vestiges of virtue, shall we?

Texas Democrat Party Chairman, Boyd Richie:

Mr. Richie recently announced his decision not to seek another term as TDP  chair in order to run for another office, or something. While making that announcement, Richie had no qualms issuing a few histrionic comments disparaging those with opposing viewpoints and encouraging his fellow lemmings to unite…

“…because a Republican political agenda that threatens to shut down government, schools and nursing homes is one that has turned its back on the people.”

Interesting wording, Mr. Richie. except for the fact that it’s hyperbole, innuendo and lies.

With all due respect sir, you’re a shameless demagogue and thus, accurately represent the rest of your party.

Leadership, indeed.

I submit that your statement does however, accurately describe the Democrat party and the Obama regime’s record.

Can you say projection? Sure you can.

It is the democrats who had control of both houses for the first two years of the Obama regime and it is with them that any blame lies for not passing a budget for the past three years. Three more “historic” firsts for those of you at home keeping score.

It was also the democrats who threatened to shut down government, withholding of Social Security checks, withholding of pay from active service troops, cutting healthcare services to veterans, cutting healthcare funds, and more. And they do so out of fear mongering.

The tools of tyrants and dictators throughout history is writ large in the democrat playbook and wielded against the people who’s rights they claim to protect, enslaving us all to exorbitant debt while the party panders ever more to their cronys, barely challenged by the sycophantic media.

Like Obama, Pelosi and Reid, these truth team surrogates must go. If for nothing but the fact they’ve turned the definition of truth on it’s head. They’ve jumped aboard yet another demagogue wagon instead of engaging in meaningful discussion about the constitutional restoration that Texas and America so desperately need.

The members of our merry band of misfits is as follows. Those with an asterisk are included on the Socia.list page. The 11 others are awarded spots on that list as well.

The Texas “Truth” Team:

TDP Chair Boyd Richie, (Good riddance)

US Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Dallas),

Sen. Jose Rodriguez (D-El Paso),

Rep. Alma Allen (D-Houston), *

Rep. Roberto Alonzo (D-Dallas), *

Rep. Rafael Anchia (D-Dallas), *

Rep. Carol Alvarado (D-Houston),

Rep. Lon Burnam (D-Fort Worth),

Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio),

Rep. Garnet F. Coleman (D-Houston), *

Rep. Dawnna Dukes (D-Austin), *

Rep. Joe Farias (D-San Antonio),

Rep. Jessica Farrar (D-Houston),

Rep. Roland Gutierrez (D-San Antonio),

Rep. Eric Johnson (D-Dallas), *

Rep. Marisa Marquez (D-El Paso), *

Rep. Elliott Naishtat (D-Austin), *

Rep. Mark Strama (D-Austin),

Rep. Mike Villarreal (D-San Antonio),

Rep. Armando Walle (D-Houston).*

Note: I’ll do my best to update this list with opposing conservative candidates for the upcoming election, just not today, it was too pretty outside and my tin can needed a tan.

UPDATE II: Linked @Theo Spark. Thanks!

Trog has a great idea about who to include on that list before he’ll agree to submit to such a test.

But let’s think about this for a moment.

The libertarian in me says we need less intrusion, not more, but I understand the premise: people on the government dole should be held to the same standard as their benefactors.

We tax payers  are the 53% so by default we are their (the people on welfare and or food stamps) employers. It’s a shame their job description is so undemanding, really. It’s actually non-existent if you think about it, aside from a set-up appointment and a few phone calls the monetary benefits far out-way the miniscule effort/reward ratio. And really, who can resist government cheese? Certainly not the entire class of people the left has trained to suckle the government teat over the last 50 years. So, I’m in agreement, in principle.

But as long as we’re tossing around ideas…

Let’s require drug tests for Congress and all public employees

by randomly chosen, non-union labs,

or no tests at all.

For anyone

except by the requirements of their employer and even then they should be performance driven.

The point is, Congress should be subject to every condition and requirement for employment they legislate upon the people they supposedly serve. That goes for public employees as well.

That’s not asking too much, is it?

I appreciate and admire gun-toting patriots who are proud to be American and are willing to educate the great unwashed as to exactly what that means. Bubba fits that description as well as anyone I can think of.

Here’s his speech on the Second Amendment. I’m posting it here because it doesn’t have enough views, yet. When you’re done with the video (be sure to watch ’til the end), please pay a visit to What Bubba Knows and let him know you appreciate his brand of unflinching patriotism too.

That is all.

Yes. For some reason, it seems we need to.

The coming 2012 election should not be framed in ideology of Right versus Left, Republican vs. Democrat or Libertarian/Conservative vs. Liberal.

The main issue of this election is whether we the people of this country choose to enslave our neighbors using the machinery of mob rule democracy or reclaim our lost liberties and return to the original intent of our Constitutional Republic. That is the issue.

Either you are an asset to society or you are a burden on it.

The 2012 election should be framed in light of the government’s unbridled over-expansion. Today, the US government in engaged in an unhinged, un-American mission to encourage sloth and preach entitlement theology, enabled and encouraged by the uninformed citizen and the educated elitist alike while funding the assault on the backs of the very people they prostitute but claim to protect: the everyday American.

This is but one example from The Heritage Foundation 2011 Budget Chart Book

The world the Statists would establish is one of dependency on government as a patriarch who makes even the most mundane decisions for us and therefore, as a child of government, we will have no rights or property except what illusion they would allow.

This election is about American versus un-American.

It’s about Freedom versus Slavery.

I’ve been thinking along these lines for a while. After all, what is governmental redistribution of wealth but slavery? But the possibility that there may be more people in this country who are against America as founded than are for it really hit home when I saw this retweeted from Pat Dollard last week:

@MerlePearl Merle

Scary, but true. RT @PatDollard If Obama wins the next election, then there aren’t enough Americans left for it to be America anymore.

To which I replied:

Too true. Unfortunate as well is, that knowledge could serve to energize either base.

Have too many Americans forgotten what it means to be uniquely American?

It’s a bit terrifying to me that we’ve come this far down the road to Socialism, Communism or Statism. Call it what you will, but the America we thought we knew is teetering on the precipice of a debt cliff caused by overspending on unearned entitlements. If it is not reversed, America simply can not survive. No country can, or ever has when using the economic model being employed.

It’s as if there is some genetic defect that keeps mutating every generation, eating away at our Self Reliance Gene. Everywhere you look, before acting, (pod) people stop and ask themselves what kind of government subsidy can they get for doing A, B or C or what entity they need approval from to do X, Y or Z, or boast to a co-worker about how much Uncle Sam gave him for his clunker or how much they received from some other such government incentive program. Where do you think that money comes from?

It is through slow, methodical, generational training that you feel these things are normal.

Once upon a glorious free country, you needed only the approval of your heart and a fearless ambition to pursue whatever you set in your mind to. As long as no-one else or their property was harmed, then by all means, go ahead. You were free to succeed and free also to fail. Now, that freedom to act at will has been taken from us. We must get a permit to do just about anything. Someone or some entity must approve of your plans before you can break ground on a homestead, start a business or attempt to market your latest invention, all under the guise of government knowing better than you. Slowly, generation by generation, the evil that is an unrestrained government has eaten away at the American foundation of self reliance.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

C. S. Lewis
English essayist & juvenile novelist (1898 – 1963)

Make no mistake folks, this election is about the survival of America as she was founded.

It will be the single most important election in which you ever will cast a vote. America lives or dies in 2012. This election is about defining what it means to be an American. The true definition of an American has been gerrymandered and perverted by the media, in legislation and regulation and in the halls of “higher education.”

“Concentrated power is not rendered harmless by the good intentions of those who create it.”
Milton Friedman

The true definition of an American has been diluted by diversity and diffused by political correctness. Our defining characteristic, what makes us Americans, has in some cases been stolen along with our dignity. We must reclaim our pride in our American heritage and reassert our love of liberty by standing up to the detractors, the apologists, the America haters and the would be en-slavers.

This election is about American self reliance versus forced servitude. It is also about framing the question as such.

The good news is that, according to the Obama administration, the rich will pay for everything. The bad news is that, according to the Obama administration, you’re rich.
P. J. O’Rourke

It is un-American to take from your neighbor so that you may have what he doesn’t.

It is also un-American to take from someone who works so that you don’t have to. Right now there are working class people who toil away at their jobs under threat of losing their livelihood if they show up late, fail a drug test, are insubordinate to their employer or any number of prerequisites for employment while at the same time, the people who benefit from those stolen monies are not required to adhere to any such standards. That is un-American to its core. It is also thievery.

In America today one can’t get a decent job without background checks and drug tests and aptitude tests and any number of requirements for employment. It’s a circus of flaming hoops, but we do it because we love our families, we still have our pride and we need to make money to survive. What pride the takers once had, they exchanged for a welfare check or a stack of food stamps and a cell phone at the behest of a ‘benevolent’ government. Without renouncing their selfish attitude, is there any question to what they will vote for? They will vote for more of your money and they will do so because of generational training.

These people are our brothers and sisters. They are our fellow Americans. They don’t desire our pity, nor would we grant them any. They have simply lost their feeling of self worth and may not even be aware of it. I believe some of them deep down, know or suspect the wrong they are doing, the harm they inflict on their own country, but peer pressure and the entitlement culture beckon them to stay in the fold. Sadly, the ultimate irony is, the problem was created by the very bureaucrats they vote to keep in office, urged to do so by demagogue leaders willing to sell them down the road to maintain their own minor pedestals of power. It is a fact that inequity exists in the American system, truly, it exists in all governments to some degree, but one cannot legislate equality of outcome, only equality of opportunity. That is the promise of America’s Constitution.

That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.
Abraham Lincoln

When the politicians and political hypochondriacs scream that some true libertarian/conservative wants to end Social Security or that the TEA Party wants to kill grandma or end some so-called entitlement, they are selling all Americans into slavery, plain and simple.

We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.
Abraham Lincoln

It’s time for Americans to re-claim what it means to be a true American.

Instead of thinking “What is government going to give me?” (What can I take from my neighbor?), we need to think about what we can do for our neighbors.

Like the Founders before us, we can give them freedom. It’s up to all of us to keep it.

That is what it means to be a true American.

A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.

Gerald Ford

I know I haven’t written anything in a while. Too much going on at work and at home to commit any brain cells to the task. I’ve also been preparing for the coming zombie apocalypse and attempting to convince my closest friends that their world is about to be flipped inside out if the newly elected officials don’t turn the tide tsunami of socialist, infanticidal fantasists running rampant in the halls of government and the main stream media.

We must become hyper-vigilant to any expression of progressive thought or action and take steps to combat it immediately at every instance. We must continue to recruit the newly awakened to the cause of saving America from within. The other option will surely lead us to riots in the streets much like we witnessed recently in Greece. Make no mistake, those people took to the streets because their government sold them socialism and either a) they now realize it is a lie, that the ponzi scheme has run its course, or more likely, b) they are whining about the well running dry and want another handout. Either way, the people have become slaves to their government. The idea of self reliance has been tossed out the window.

The more recent rioting in Tunisia and Egypt, in my opinion, have less to do with socialism than outright despotism, which is the next phase of any socialistic government. Unfortunately, uprisings, even ones calling for a democratic republic can be hijacked by outside influences, as could be the case with the Muslim Brotherhood attempting to move in to take power in the coming vacuum.

MARGARET THATCHER:
The problem with socialism is that you eventually, run out of other people’s money.

There is a simple fact that must be recognized as such. Utopia can not be found or created in a world under human control or creation. Humans are flawed and anything we create will be flawed as well. Giving too much power to too few people will always and inevitably result in abuse of that power. That is why the constitution should be held as sacred. The founders knew of our imperfect nature and put safeguards in place to hold government in check, on a leash, so to speak, and like a sandstone statue in the wind, the constitution was immediately set upon by the winds of ne’er-do-wells and progressives to erode the fingers that hold that leash.

I pray for our country and our people. I’m worried about my family, my neighbors and their children if we continue on this path of gimme gimme gimme more government with no thought of where the government gets it to give and no shame in it when the receiver is aware of the deal.

Entitlements and wealth redistribution, welfare, class envy and reparations, open borders, government takeovers, political correctness, crony capitalism and over regulation by nameless, faceless minions must cease, or we will cease to exist as a sovereign nation, what’s worse is, I fear we teeter on the brink of absolute despotism should our situation decline much further. The last hundred years of constant abuse has beaten a once proud and mighty standard to the point of withering tatters. Can anyone look at the state of America and the world and honestly tell me the current model is sustainable? To do so is to lie to yourself and to your fellow Americans.

I believe:

We must return to self reliance.

We must lose the idea that equality of opportunity is the same as equality of outcome.

EDWARD GIBBON:
In the end, more than freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all – security, comfort, and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again.

We must retake the high ground in our institutions of learning and in the halls of power, leading in word and deed in what is the right and true way to live ones life, not feeding off the labors of others but creating for oneself that which is desired.

This is what true Americans have done in the past and still wish to do, if we can shake loose the shackles our government would choke us with.

Let us honor those who have given their lives for the ideas of America’s founding by devoting our lives to the return of those principles.

Amen.
