Democrats

Our president thinks he’s a hypnotist, and why wouldn’t he? He obviously put half the population under some kind of spell to convince them to vote for him. How else was he able to get all those folks to cast aside the glaringly obvious truth of his hatred for America and stated desire to change it into a communistic style of government?

Every other word he utters is a contradiction of the one before or a set-up for the lie to come after. Who in their right mind can listen to absolutely preposterous, convoluted notions like “job-killing tax cuts” and come away with the assurance that the man has our best interest at heart? Those are the words spoken by a person who knows he is doing wrong and will boldly beat you over the head with the fact that he’s doing it. He thinks he’s the guy that can sell igloos to Eskimos or the Brooklyn Bridge to a New Yorker.

He also wants US to believe that 80% of us want to pay more taxes but we aren’t buying, Mister President. A growing majority of US knows you for the charlatan you are.

Barack Hussein Obama is the epitome of everything the Democratic Party and the Progressive/Communist/Socialist elite have been striving for since Woodrow Wilson occupied the office Obama continues to disgrace.  Compare Marxist ideology to the modern Democrat Party ideals and you will find similarities too numerous to ignore.

Barack Hussein Obama is not your typical tax and spend democrat either. He’s much, much worse on an exponential scale. He’s a T & S D on steroids with nefarious ulterior motives who has the cooperation of a compliant media and a plethora of crony politicians eager to give him more power.

I’ve said before, and I think it becomes more apparent every day, Barack Hussein Obama is committing treason against the USA by using American social programs against the very economic engine that made those programs possible in the first place; all in order to overwhelm the system with ever increasing demands and thereby collapsing the economy and ushering in a new type of government. This method was conceived by Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven and is known as the Cloward-Piven Strategy. Its stated goal is to achieve political and social change through orchestrated crisis. It is out and out economic warfare and is especially dangerous when combined with the Communist/Socialist agenda exposed by Iowa Rep. Curtis Bowers. It is an evil that strikes directly at the heart of natural law, liberty and America as envisioned by our founding fathers and must be passionately opposed wherever it is discovered.

For Liberty, ‘bot.

Don’t you think with Obama’s economy, those new job seekers are going to need all the help they can get? Aren’t there more important issues for a federal judge to be concerned with?

Apparently not.

Chief U.S. District Judge Fred Biery’s order against the Medina Valley Independent School District also forbids students from using specific religious words including “prayer” and “amen.”

Peter Morrison is fired up about it in his latest report:

Just last week, a federal tyrant threatened the Texas Senate with grounding all flights in Texas if the anti-groping bill was passed. Yesterday another federal tyrant, an unelected appointed-for-life federal judge named Fred Biery, banned any and all prayer at the Medina Valley ISD graduation ceremonies.

He went as far as to order students and administration that they could not use words like “prayer,” or “bow their heads,” or “amen” upon penalty of jail time for contempt of court.

Folks, it doesn’t get any more outrageous than this. There’s only one real solution: civil disobedience by students at the Medina Valley ISD graduation, followed by interposition and nullification of the judge’s order by the governor. The sovereign state should interpose itself between the tyrant and its citizens to prevent abuses of the Constitution, and nullify this judge’s unconstitutional order. It’s the only solution that preserves the students’ rights in time for their graduation.

Rick Perry talks a good talk about protecting state’s rights. This is where the rubber meets the road. Governor Perry should order state troopers and other law enforcement personnel to protect the administration and students of Medina Valley ISD from arrest. Furthermore, this federal judge ought to be tried for unlawful assaults and threats. If I illegally threatened to kidnap and jail someone for praying in public, that would be a crime, and it’s the same crime even if it’s done by an unelected tyrant in a black robe.

Take action:

Please send a fax to Governor Perry asking him to use every resource of the state to protect these students’ civil rights:

You know, last time I checked, the First Amendment provides us with freedom of religion, to worship in the manner of our choosing, not freedom from religion. No one in the graduation audience will be forced to pray. I promise. If you don’t want to, then don’t. Go get a beverage or a souvenir. Or you could just stand there and politely keep your yap shut for a moment. The Muslim terrorists in Gitmo have more religious freedom than those on the left would allow our students.

They don’t hate any God. The left hates the Christian God.

A few days after the post ‘Defining “American”‘ I received a comment from Kristen informing me of her decision to respond to the article as a project for her college English Argument class, and asking if I would be interested in reading her paper when finished. Since she was very polite, I responded in the affirmative, with the caveat that if she did indeed send the paper to me, I might publish some, all or none of the rebuttal. After much hand wringing on the issue, I have decided to publish her entire argument. I think anyone who has children in public school or college needs to know what they are being taught. And I think Kristen proves my point that far too many people have forgotten what it truly means to be American, even if she didn’t intend to.

If you haven’t already read it, you may wish to read my original piece, here. I’ll offer some thoughts after Kristen has her say.

Response to Defining “American”

Medicare is currently doing its job now without being excessive, according to the chart you provide. Social Security was one of the many programs passed as part of the New Deal in 1935. (Kelly) It was successful in getting America back to economic prosperity whether you consider it socialist or not and that is why it is still around today. So why, all of the sudden, in the near future would it be predicted that we would be sending so much more on Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid. Medicare has been around since 1965 and government health insurance has been around much longer than that. In the early 1900s states began to collect taxes to be used as insurance premiums from workers and employers. The reason this did not work was because individual states did not want to implement extra taxes that may put the business in their states at a disadvantage during the Great Depression. (Corning)

“One of the duties of the State is that of caring for those of its citizens who find themselves the victims of such adverse circumstances as makes them unable to obtain even the necessities for mere existence without the aid of others. That responsibility is recognized by every civilized nation. . . . To these unfortunate citizens aid must be extended by Government–not as a matter of charity but as a matter of social duty.” (Corning) In my opinion that is part of what it means to be American, to not only keep up with the other civilized first world nations but to surpass them with our new ideas and high standards. Being American is about being able to have different opinions.

Saying that “more people are against America as it was founded than slavery” is a contradiction. America was founded on great principals but those principals often did not translate into reality.  In theory it sounds good; America was founded on the principal of escaping oppression on the basis of religious persecution. But ironically early America, as it was founded, was a very oppressive place. It was oppressive to women, poor people, and anyone who was not white. The American voting system was designed to prevent majority tyranny but how can that work if the oppressed minority cannot vote to begin with? This method of preventing majority tyranny did not work then and it continues to fail today. (Garlikov) Even when the minority on any number of issues can vote they continue to be outnumbered and oppressed by the majority. This is why progress is slow but of course progress will come, as it always has, with America leading the way. I am a strong believer in Democracy because I believe that most people want to do things that are good and right. While we may agree on what those things may be we still have the same goal and we both want what is best for America. I know that progress takes a long time, like civil rights and women’s rights. I feel bad that those things could not have happened sooner but it came when the people were ready for it and I understand that only when a value is generally held by a society that it can work as a part of law. To me that is what it means to be American: paving the road to progress.

You say that Obama is redistributing the wealth but you are failing to mention that our previous president, George W. Bush, was guilty of exactly what you are accusing Obama of. We all know that the higher your income is the higher your taxes are, but Bush made special exceptions. A Congressional study said that “families earning more than $1 million a year saw their federal tax rates drop more sharply than any group in the country as a result of President Bush’s tax cuts” and that “tax rates for middle-income earners edged up.” (Andrews) Bush may have lowered taxes for everyone but the people who got the biggest tax breaks were in the top one percent income earners in the United States. He added tax cuts on investment income and on estates specifically to benefit the richest households. Just one decade of those tax cuts would cost a trillion dollars. (Andrews) And the people to pick up the tab for the money lost during the Bush administration will be my generation and maybe yours since I do not know how old you are.  The bottom forty percent of income earners get money back from the government and pay what is considered negative taxes so they were not affected by the Bush tax cuts. (Andrews) Obama extended the Bush tax cuts to individuals making less than $200,000 per year and families making less than $250,000 per year. In 2010 Obama gave businesses a $5,000 tax credit for each new employee they added. (Khan, Jaffe)

In your blog you say “The true definition of being an American has been diluted by diversity and diffused by political correctness.” I believe that this statement reflects the opposite of the definition of American. America has always been a nation of immigrants. America is perhaps the most diverse nation in the world. Having a diverse mix of ethnicities, cultures, and opinions and being able to live with and accept it makes America great. I agree that political correctness is not always a good thing in certain specific situation when it does not reflect truth. We should be able to talk about and address all types of stereotypes, perhaps then we can overcome our differences.  In the words of Barack Obama “The anger is real, it is powerful, and to simply wish it away, to condemn it without understanding its roots, only serves to widen the chasm of misunderstanding that exists between the races.” (“Obama Tackles Race Divide in Major Speech”)

I agree with you that many people unrightfully have an entitlement mindset. These people tend to think “what can my country do for me” and are ungrateful what for what we provide to them with our tax dollars. But we cannot let these people affect the way we think of everyone who receives welfare nor should they be able to ruin the system for everyone. You say that “… the America we thought we knew is teetering on the precipice of a debt cliff caused by overspending on unearned entitlements.” But it is estimated that only about four percent of the United States budget is being spent on welfare. (How Much Does the Nation Spend on Welfare? – Public Aid, State Expenditures For Social Welfare, Private Welfare Expenditures, Welfare-reform Legislation) Entitlement programs like Medicare and Social security are paid into by the public when they pay taxes, that is why they are entitled to them. Of course we all get the same benefits without paying the same amount of taxes. You may call that Socialism and in a way perhaps it is but I still do not believe it would be morally right to let the poorest people do without these programs, as they are the ones who need them most.

You talk a lot about what you call “generational training” which you describe as an inherent flaw with each younger generation that causes selfishness. I completely disagree. Selfish, greedy people have always existed and always will. My young generation of new voters has plenty of pride and work ethic. In fact it is the older generation that takes the most from government if you include the entitlement programs Social Security and Medicare, which take up over thirty percent of the United States federal budget. (“Nullification: Are State Level Officials Really Opposed to Federal Encroachment?”) But I understand that they need those things and have the right to them. I sympathize with them knowing that I will probably be old one day too and I hope that when that day comes the programs I am entitled to are there to help me after I have paid into them my entire life.
As much as our opinions on these issues may differ I believe that, like I said before, we share a common interest: to make America better.  I can see that you have strong opinions, as do I, and that is a good thing. Our passion and enthusiasm about politics and America is something we have in common. And because this is America we both can freely express our opinions, which I think is wonderful.

-Kristen

Here is my reply, slightly abbreviated, as I feel my actual rebuttal lies in most of the posts already on my blog and those of many other conservatives.

Kristen,

I’m glad you chose my piece as the opposing view for your article and I hope you continue your search for what it means to be an American. It is one of the most important questions you will ever ask of yourself or your fellow Americans.

You mentioned in your accompanying email message that you didn’t want to start a debate but I cannot let these arguments go unchallenged. It is clear to me that you are concerned for the well being of your fellow Americans and that is admirable. It is also painfully clear that you’ve bought into the whole “victim mentality” that permeates much of our country and serves only to reinforce the entitlement culture. While you say we agree on the fact that some entitlements are unearned, you don’t propose any steps to alleviate the problem. In fact, you mention it once and proceed to gloss over it.

I could go through Kristen’s piece line by line, but I’ll just do the first. It exemplifies the rest.

Medicare is currently doing its job now without being excessive, according to the chart you provide.

Did you ignore the chart after 2011? Didn’t you see the projected outlay of money to social programs which, if left unchecked, will bankrupt the nation? Not being excessive? Really? We are currently living on borrowed money to enable these programs. The interest on that debt is a huge contributor to the projected debt levels in the chart, not to mention when Obamacare really gets going.

You mentioned also that, according to some guy who wrote something (FDR – Corning), it is the social duty of government to take money from those who have earned it and give that money to those who have not (The bottom line of your quote.). The qualifications for that “benefit” are also to be laid out by the government doing the taking. You don’t have a problem with that? You don’t see the potential for abuse of power being actualized at this moment by the politicians buying votes with peoples’ taxed (stolen) dollars? This is why the Founders were against social programs born of the Federal Government, because the Fed. is too far removed from the people it is supposed to serve. These programs belong at the local, regional, or state level, if they come from government at all. (See Romneycare for an example of more government healthcare failure.)

It is clear to me from your arguments that restraining the powers of the Federal Government to its original “few and defined” number, has ceased to be taught in our schools. In fact, it ceased to be taught years before the New Deal. If it had been, people would have never been duped into such a ponsi scheme as Social Security or many other New Deal type programs. The New Deal was the gateway drug to government’s addiction to taking it’s citizen’s property, leading the way to ever more taxes and increases on those taxes for some other new entitlement, and now that they have set the IRS as a redistributive tool, they disguise any thievery at all in some cloak of charitable outlay while accusing the taxed of being cold-hearted, uncaring and greedy. Witness political projection at it’s finest.

Not far from where I live is a city called Port Arthur, Texas, which has a rich history in the oil exploration and refinery industry. The city has been run for decades by predominantly liberal policy. As of the latest tally the local unemployment rate stands at 16% to 17%, which is quite probably the worst in Texas. The jobs are available. High paying ones. There are many workers coming in from all over the country to fill positions the local people won’t take. Why? Entitlement Mentality. They have been trained for years by their government and culture to not take a job if it will interfere with their welfare or unemployment check, plain and simple. The unemployment rate in the state of Texas is 8%. Even if we assume that 8% of the population of Port Arthur is indigent, how do you explain the other 8%? I’ve lived here for 25 years and I can tell you that they do not want a real job, even when one is readily available. If you look at most any city or county across the nation (Detroit for example?) that has long standing leftist policies I believe you will find the vast majority to be the same. People won’t work if they are paid not to. It’s that simple. Look for yourself. Question what your professors tell you is “progress” and you will find that their version of progress only takes away a person’s will to provide for themselves. Is it any wonder that the Heritage Fundation’s 2010 Index of Dependence on Government finds

…the United States is close to the point at which half of the population will not pay taxes for government benefits they receive.

Half the population. How does that happen?

When I said “Generational Training,” I was not referring to young people being defective, as you inferred from my piece. I was referring to actual instruction, which you have obviously been receiving at the hands of the very people who wish to see you enslaved. The fact that you can veil all of your arguments into a guilt ridden projection of our countries past faults to justify more spending of money not your own is what I was referring to when I said “Generational Training.” Those types of thought patterns don’t happen automatically unless you have been so instructed.

As far as GWB goes, you won’t find me defending his over spending or any other republican for that matter. I’m no big fan of government spending no matter which side of the aisle it comes from or who argues for it. I find it funny that some people can criticize Bush for spending too much but praise Obama for spending ten times more. I don’t like either group spending our money and neither should you.

In closing, Kristen, you did a very good job of laying out the leftist talking points and guilt trips. The 16th through19th centuries were harsh times in the entire world. I’d doubt very seriously that women or blacks or any minorities were treated with the respect they receive today. But you fail to mention the fact that it was in America where those rights first began to emerge. It was Americans who abolished slavery. It was in America that women got the right to vote. It was in America where blacks got the right to vote as well. Why must we be forced to pay the price for something you and I had no part in? I don’t recall ever having owned a slave or preventing anyone a vote. Those arguments are old and tired. Can’t we just get past them to truly address the real problems of the country?

The idea of individual liberty is at the core of America and it is individual liberty that is under attack. It must always be fought for because there will always be someone wishing to take it from you, even under the guise of Social Justice or some other re-branding. Call it what you will, it is still slavery trying to raise its ugly head, and it is still wrong.

A few questions come to mind:
How’s that dhimmitude workin’ out for ya?

Tell me again what religion Obummer claims to be?

What would be the reaction from the left if we were to renovate some Christian Churches?

They will side with anyone or anything in their quest for more control, even if it means partnering with known enemies. I mean, I know the left are all about the free love thing but c’mon, the Muslim Brotherhood? Really? Do they actually know who they’re in bed with? Do they even care? What about that whole ‘separation of church and state’ mantra they like to throw around at parties? Isn’t embracing Islam in the White House a bit of hypocrisy?

I gotta warn you though; those beer goggles can be a bit of a bummer in the morning, especially when you find out you went to bed with a ten and woke up with a two that wants to chop your head off.

I’ve said before that I believe Obama to be a muslim. He’s said so himself. It is also a known fact that islam allows and even encourages muslims to be deceitful in order to infiltrate and convert their enemies so, for him to lie to achieve his aim of the submission of America to islam is not inconsistent with his religion.

Does anyone else see a double standard here? What kind of god encourages its followers to be untruthful, for any reason? Shouldn’t a righteous god insist his followers be above reproach in everything, above all, proselytizing?

My God does.

9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

islam’s sanctioning of deceit is just another example of the false prophet mohammed and his false god allah and their false, barbaric religion of blasphemy against the one true God of Abraham.

John Quincy Adams, the sixth President of the United States, knew of islam’s barbaric nature perhaps better than we. As noted by Dave Miller, Ph.D. in his article for Apologetics Press titled “John Quincy Adams on Islam,” he states:

No Christian would deny that many Christians in history have violated the precepts of Christ by mistreating others and even committing atrocities in the name of Christ. However, Adams rightly observes that one must go against Christian doctrine to do so. Not so with Islam—since violence is sanctioned:

The fundamental doctrine of the Christian religion, is the extirpation of hatred from the human heart. It forbids the exercise of it, even towards enemies. There is no denomination of Christians, which denies or misunderstands this doctrine. All understand it alike—all acknowledge its obligations; and however imperfectly, in the purposes of Divine Providence, its efficacy has been shown in the practice of Christians, it has not been wholly inoperative upon them. Its effect has been upon the manners of nations. It has mitigated the horrors of war—it has softened the features of slavery—it has humanized the intercourse of social life. The unqualified acknowledgement of a duty does not, indeed, suffice to insure its performance. Hatred is yet a passion, but too powerful upon the hearts of Christians. Yet they cannot indulge it, except by the sacrifice of their principles, and the conscious violation of their duties. No state paper from a Christian hand, could, without trampling the precepts of its Lord and Master, have commenced by an open proclamation of hatred to any portion of the human race. The Ottoman lays it down as the foundation of his discourse (Blunt, 29:300, emp. added).

The Founders were forthright in their assessment of the nature and teachings of Islam and the Quran. Americans and their political leaders would do well to take a sober look at history. To fail to do so will be catastrophic.

So, how’s that whole dhimmitude thing workin’ out for ya?

Also, lest you think I’m being unfair and unbalanced, Zilla of the Resistance has posted an outstanding piece on the islamic infiltration of the conservative movement.

Imagine that.

My friend Teresa from Teresamerica reminded me of a story that the lefties at the NAACP refuse to admonish members of their side for the raaaaacist calls for violence against Supreme Court Judge Clarence Thomas at the ‘Quarantine the Koch Brothers’ rally. Isn’t the NAACP supposed to be an advocate for civil rights much like the most righteous ACLU?

Oh. Right.

Hat Tip to Michael Berry for finding the Daily Caller story.

On a side note, while I was looking for other stories to go along with this one, I did a little Bing search for “dems denounce racist threats at rally‘ which I was sure would return a bazillion hits pointing to their outrage and calls for civility but instead, returned this result:

Funny how it easily found calls from republicans calling out their own for veering out of the pasture, and dems calling the TEA Party raaaaacists. Never mind the fact that none of those accusations were ever proven. Then, I thought, why not try the ‘News’ tab:

Hmmm. That’s interesting. No news at all? No dems have ever been reported to have denounced racism at any rally? I thought they were against racism. Bing, maybe I need to spell it out for you:

Notice it included the Egyptian denouncement of something or other, and down lower right, it found an article on Rep. Moran accusing republicans of being racist.

Then, the search engine politely asked me:

Do you want results only for democrats denounce racist threats at rally?

Absolutely!

Apparently, it doesn’t happen.

To be fair, I changed ‘democrat’ to republican’ and it didn’t find anything for those search terms in the ‘news’ tab either, but when switched to the ‘Web’ tab both search sets returned a larger set of results:

I’m not trying to prove anything here. Just noticing an interesting find and tweaking the geeks who program the search engines. I mean, really? Not one ‘News’ item for those search terms? I hear it on radio and read articles on that very subject almost every day. Why does a search engine have trouble spotting them? Is there a blind spot in your ‘News’ algorithm? (Al-Gore-ithm?)

Maybe Al forgot to include that bit of code when he invented the interwebz.

Over the Christmas holidays I had to stop mid-conversation for fear of exciting a close family member. He’s a lifelong Democrat and there is no hope for saving him from that ailment. He also has heart trouble and tends to get overly excited if you disagree about things political so, I don’t talk about it much over there. Not that politics isn’t discussed at his house, it is. It’s just a one sided conversation and I usually have bite marks on my tongue before I leave. Such is the life of a robot.

I dropped out of the aforementioned conversation when I heard this from another family member:

I’m against Obama but when I see the Republicans giving tax breaks to the rich I just don’t think I can support them either.

This seems to be the mindset of a lot of people who cling to the Democrat or Independent label, and it’s an illogical mind twister. This is the type convoluted thinking that Statists like Obama want to promote and what we Conservatives/Restorationists should strive to overcome.

Now, let’s examine that sentence. When you say “I’m against Obama” are you against everything Obama does? Since you’re not here to answer that, let’s say for the sake of brevity and hopefulness that you are.

So that brings us to the other half of the sentence, “Republicans giving tax breaks to the rich”. This has class envy written all over it. It also tells me you’ve been buying into at least some of the Obamedia rhetoric.

First off, the term “giving” is misused here. It says that it’s the government’s money to give. It is not. It also implies that you accept the flawed premise that the rich don’t pay their fair share of taxes.  What is most disturbing to me is the lack of understanding of the God given right to personal property. When you shift ownership of property from the individual to the government, it soon devolves into tyranny.

John Adams said:

The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence.

We have been on that road for a while now. It is time to stop.

Assuming everything the federal government does is *cough* worthwhile: military, infrastructure, postal service, social programs, and so-on, let’s focus on who pays Federal Income Tax and how much, as a percentage of the total. (You can find the dollar amounts by clicking the links.)

Who pays taxes?

According to Scott A. Hodge, President of the Tax Foundation, a nonpartisan tax research group based in Washington, D.C., there were nearly 142 million Americans filing tax returns in 2009, roughly half the population.

Who doesn’t pay taxes?

There were 42.5 million, or 32.4% of filers in 2004 that didn’t pay taxes, which was up from an average of 22% for the previous 5 decades.

Contrast that with 2008, under a Republican President and a Democrat controlled congress:

Two Records Set in 2008: Most Nonpayers and Highest-Earning Nonpayers
Nonpaying status used to be a sure sign of poverty or near-poverty, but Congress and the President have changed the tax laws to pull much of the middle class into the growing pool of nonpayers. The income level at which a typical family of four will owe no income taxes has risen rapidly, now topping $51,000.

As a result, recently released IRS data for the 2008 tax year show that a record 51.6 million filers had no income tax obligation.[1] That means more than 36 percent of all Americans who filed a tax return for 2008 were nonpayers, raising serious doubts about the ability of the income tax system to continue funding the federal government’s ballooning expenditures.

Who pays the most?

The top 1% of taxpayers has the largest burden. In 2008, those filers carried 38% of the total tax income and that percentage is consistent with past results. One problem as I see it, and as noted in the quote above, is the shifting demographics.

Who pays the least?

The bottom 50% of taxpayers pays the least or 2.7% of the total income tax accumulated, which is down from a 1999 figure of 4%. That’s half of the filers paying little or next to nothing. I’d say that this one statistic is enough to warrant a flat tax, that is, if I wasn’t against the Federal Income Tax altogether, but if we’re going to have one. Make it a flat consumption tax.

Who gets a subsidy?

What? A Subsidy!?

Yes. An interesting reminder came out of my reading for this post. I had forgotten that under President Bush (Progressive, but not as bad as Obama by a long shot), the IRS was given new responsibilities: encouraging poverty.

In a nutshell, single mothers under a certain income threshold get a subsidy for each child. We are paying poor folks to have babies!

Our benevolent benefactors might as well open up an ‘Uncle Sammie’s Home for Wayward Wimmin’ on a corner in every major metropolitan city for cryin’ out loud!

Government funded charity distributed through the welfare system hasn’t been replaced; it’s been expanded and enhanced! We now offer subsidies to people to breed more poverty. Yea! Keep in mind, this doesn’t include food stamps, social programs etc., which are funded from the Social Security system and are also expanded due to the greater need now that there are more poor babies being born (see how that works?), we are talking about the IRS being used as a redistributive tool.

Again, from Scott A. Hodge and the Tax Foundation:

Of the 42.5 million tax returns that pay no income taxes, 52.9 percent [‘bot - 22.5m] received some form of a refundable credit – either the EITC or the child tax credit. In 2004, Uncle Sam paid out about $33 billion in “refundable” checks to the families and single individuals who qualified for the Earned Income Credit and another $9 billion to families who were eligible for the child credit.

Broadly speaking, the 42.5 million zero-tax filers are: low-income, young, female-headed households, part-time workers, and beneficiaries of the $1,000 per-child tax credit or the Earned Income Credit.

And the situation isn’t improving:

In 2008, 25 million tax filers received $51.6 billion in EITC benefits. Of this amount, $50.5 billion was refundable in excess of their income tax liability. Also in 2008, some 25.3 million filers received $30.7 billion in child tax credit benefits, with more than 18 million of these filers getting $20.5 billion in refundable checks. Many families are eligible for both the EITC and the child credit. These are not refunds of overpaid tax; they are payments to people who have already gotten back everything that was withheld from their paychecks during the year.

What’s the solution?

Less government. Duh! Reign in the social spending. We can no longer afford (and never could afford), to offer government charity using the IRS or any social program to re-distribute our money/property. It is killing our nation and promoting a mindset of entitlements that is bankrupting and destroying our society. We are squashing people’s will to achieve and succeed by taking from those who will work and giving to those who will not. It is our duty, out of compassion for them and our working countrymen to cease these destructive social programs by systematically phasing them out.

How?

Continue the commitments we have made thus far, but put a dead end date on them. We need to elect like minded Conservative/Restorationist politicians who understand these things and will fight to get these destructive policies reformed and repealed.

I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I traveled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.

~ Benjamin Franklin

November was just the beginning. We have to fight ever harder to retake our country from the hands of the Statists. If we do not, well, that alternative is the worst imaginable for the individual, for America and for the world.

Addendum: I understand this is only one part of a larger, multifaceted problem of high taxes and excessive government spending on all fronts. I only bring it up to refute what the media and the Statists want to program you with through sheer repetition.

Some say, and I agree, that the spending comes before the taxes as a method to justify more taxation.  It’s the spending, stupid! Yes.

Therefore, a real, measurable and verifiable shift in thinking and action by our lawmakers needs to occur to stop the downward slide or our country. The only way to accomplish this is through education and activism. A majority of the voters need to make that same shift in their thinking with respect to private property. Our personal property and our earnings should be sacrosanct, untouchable by the Federal monster unless a last resort. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

Some, like my family member have given up, thrown up their hands and said, “There’s nothing we can do. We can’t change Washington, so why bother?”

To him and them I say, look at what you, your children and your grandchildren lose if you don’t! Yours and their freedom, or what’s left of it, that’s what.

Will you sell them into slavery by ignorance and inaction?

You already know my answer.

It’s well beyond time to answer for yourself and your family.

Happy New Year, Comrades!

Isn’t that special. Guess they don’t read the Robot. Or maybe they do and don’t like what they see. Which leads to the conclusion:

FCC Hates Beautiful Women!       Save Rule 5 from FCC!

Robert M. McDowell, writing for the Wall Street Journal has more:

Tomorrow morning the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will mark the winter solstice by taking an unprecedented step to expand government’s reach into the Internet by attempting to regulate its inner workings. In doing so, the agency will circumvent Congress and disregard a recent court ruling.

This is flat out unconstitutional. Once again, the Obama regime attempts to exert more control on free speech, internet access and beautiful girls. What is the world coming to?

The bailouts and takeovers were just the start of it all.

Obamacare’s death panels will decide who lives and dies according to some unknown standard of faceless nameless bureaucrats and pencil pushers who will have access to your credit, voting and video rental records.

We are supposed to be OK with a Ground Zero Mosque while they tell us to not celebrate Christmas.

Government has ruined the Gulf’s oil production and increased foreign access to the same waters.

The Food bill will put the FDA and the EPA in your backyard garden.

And to top it all off, after DADT is repealed, military recruitment will be decimated.

Why not just bow to our enemies and invite an attack? Oh. Yea, too late.

My friends, this lame duck congress and out of control administration are over the top with their sequestering of our rights and their undermining of our country and way of life. It’s insidious.  The little nibbles and nips we have felt over the years were but a taste teaser leading to the gluttonous feast we experience and witness now.

We, the American People, must take the unprecedented step to issue a decree or petition of No Confidence in Obama and the Congress as it stands. (Is that possible? I don’t know. Couldn’t hurt to try it.)

Obama, Congress and all federal agencies must cease and desist all activity with regard to legislation and the drafting of new regulations until the new Congress is sworn in. And next year, if the new blood doesn’t turn the tide, woe be unto them, for the new decree will be a new election as soon as humanly possible, using paper ballots and a thorough ouster of all Senators and Representatives. Every last one. Start over. Clean slate. Restore and repair and repeal the amendments to the Constitution back to 1890 when the Communists began their treachery. McCarthy was right!

What else is there to do if we are to save the republic?

I know, I started off trying to be light-hearted about the net neutrality thing, but I can’t. I even made a new header and all attempting to get in the Christmas spirit. Believe me when I say, I know who wins in the long run. He is risen and shall come again. Jesus is the reason for the season. I know.

It just breaks my heart to see our country go down without so much as a whimper with these guys at the helm and a bunch of smarmy Liberal Progressives gloating over their “victory.” Victory over what? Common sense?

Please God forgive them. They know not what they do.

Twitter is saying the vote is scheduled for 10:30 this morning but I can’t confirm that. The hastag is #DREAM to follow the conversation.
Here’s C-Span’s link if you want to watch online.
From Kaus’ piece linked by Allah:
You’ve heard of “comprehensive” reform? DREAM is non-comprehensive reform. It doesn’t even have the basic enforcement provisions—employer sanctions and fancy new ID cards—that were part of the earlier, failed “comprehensive” bargain, which wasn’t a very good bargain (in part because nobody was sure the enforcement schemes wouldn’t be immediately undermined by lawsuits from the same organizations who supported “comprehensive” reform). DREAM is all amnesty, no prevention. Maybe that’s because its backers care about amnesty but not prevention.
This is a disaster of epic proportions just waiting to explode.
We beat back the Omnibus. Let’s beat back this nightmare.

I posted a link yesterday urging people to call their Senators to support an amendment to the new FDA expansion being crammed through the lame duck congress at the moment. Whilst I’m waxing wishful, how’s about instead of modifying that POS legislation, we urge them to scrap it completely. I think we’ve seen what the current power hungry mongrels infesting the House and Senate are capable of. I don’t think I want any more of the like, thank you very much. No.

I know. Fat chance.

HT/ ToM

On the same lame subject, this morning’s Heritage Foundation Morning Bell cites some disturbing numbers which, combined with the recent Wall Street legislation, ObamaCare, QE2, Bailouts and reckless spending by the Democraps amount to nothing more than a Cloward/Piven-Alinski-Obama Trifecta of assault on our way of life.

So just how big an expansion of government does Dingell, Pelosi, and Reid want to inflict on the American people to combat a non-existent food safety crisis? Well, the Congressional Budget Office estimates that the legislation would require 50,000 domestic and foreign inspections in 2015, compared to just 7,400 in 2009. That is a sevenfold increase in government inspections. And the government would be reaching into a lot of new places as well. The act requires that all food “facilities”—including those home-based businesses that make jam, bread, and cheese for local markets—would be required to undertake periodic hazard analyses and produce “risk-based preventive controls.”

‘bot – Personally, I really would like to see these guys sit on their hands and do nothing for the remainder of their terms.

Never met a communist he didn’t like:

Obama finds kindred spirit?

“I am glad to meet an Indian communist. I am told that communists have been part of the (Indian) political mainstream,” Obama told CPM Politburo member Sitaram Yechury at the Rashtrapati Bhawan banquet as they were introduced and both shook hands.

He might just as well have said “fellow communist.”

And while Obummer is yucking it up with his new found commie friends and Bernanke is devaluing the dollar, the World Bank president lobbies for a global currency system:

“The world needs a new global currency-setting system”, – World Bank President Robert Zoellick has stated in Singapore.

——————————————–

Tell me again why this is happening?

Are they really that good at what they do? I suppose it depends on how you look at it. If for instance, you think 22% actual private sector unemployment and bailing out underfunded pensions and banks and insurance companies all on the public’s back are all good things, then by all means, let’s pay government employees twice what the average private sector employee makes. Never mind the fact that they don’t produce a single marketable product, which is what an economy should be based on.
Morons.

Did Harry Reid steal the Nevada election from Sharron Angle?

This may be one instance where George Soros’ Secretary of State Project worked as planned.

From Right Pundits:

[Secretary of State Ross] Miller is a life-long partisan Democrat operative in the state, the legacy son of former Democratic governor Bob Miller. He interned in the Clinton White House after obtaining a law degree from Loyola Marymount University. At age 30 he is also the youngest Secretary of State in Nevada’s history and apparently in way over his head.None of that would matter if he would only take an active role in voter fraud claims by Republicans, but instead Miller appears to be hiding behind his own bureaucracy.

Despite these widespread reports in the news about Nevada voting machines miraculously selecting Harry Reid’s name in a case of divine intervention, Miller’s response to the explosive Nevada election fraud allegations is that nobody bothered to file a formal complaint with the election’s division so he is not going to investigate it! He seems offended that a resident would instead take her case to the news media. Miller knows, of course, that pretty much nobody knows how to file election fraud complaints in a state. The voters are doing the natural thing by talking to the media.

The allegations of voter fraud, tampering and intimidation by Harry Reid’s campaign continue to pile up. So strange was Reid’s comeback after early voting showed a GOP advantage, The Christian Science Monitor labeled his victory a Houdini act.

This robot is absolutely *blsht* positive that the Senator did everything within his *hack*  power to keep his staffers and his son, Rory Reid, who is the *crrpt* Clarke County Commissioner where the vote stealing allegations took place, on the straight and *ahem* narrow, but the questions remain and accumulate, unanswered.

Strange: Election night, an as yet unexplained power outage occurred at one Las Vegas polling location. How convenient.

Side note: Also in question to me is the timing of Obama’s highly overrated, exorbitantly expensive, overseas trip in the wake of this election. Could it possibly be a bit of distraction from the possibility of voter fraud? The three-card-monte is always in play, it seems, with these people.

In another article, Elizabeth Crum, reporting for the National Review Online unearthed “disturbing” evidence of “collusion,” coercion and harassment of Harrah’s employees to conjure votes for embattled Senator Reid against the TEA Party candidate Sharron Angle. (H/T Am-Pow)

The accusations stem from a series of emails and spreadsheets that NRO obtained which offer damning evidence against Harry Reid’s staff, and possibly point to Reid’s personal  involvement in the scandal, with some in Harrah’s upper management being willing accomplices to the stealing of the election through voter/employee intimidation.

Reports Crum:

The stepped-up effort began Wednesday when a Reid staffer sent an email pleading for help to Harrah’s top lobbyist, Jan Jones. Soon after, Marybel Batjer, Harrah’s vice president of public policy and communications, distributed that plea via email to executives throughout the company.

Later in the article, the employee who forwarded the emails said:

“We were asked to talk to people individually to find out why they had not yet voted and to fill in these spreadsheets explaining why,” the employee said. “I did not feel comfortable doing that.”

“It put me in a very awkward position,” the employee added, saying the level of coordination between Harrah’s upper management, the culinary union, and the Reid campaign was “disgusting.”

A spokesman with the Federal Election Commission declined to comment on the case, but encourages anyone who feels that an election-law violation has occurred to file a complaint with the commission.

I wonder how many complaints have been filed already.

BigFurHat @ iOTW simply states: Harry Reid Broke The Law – Plain and Simple.

Here’s hoping someone with enough power to combat the Reid machine can get to the bottom of these serious anti-American accusations. One thing’s for sure, Eric Holder and the Federal justice system are going to turn a blind eye unless more evidence surfaces.

I missed the Peter Morrison Report in my inbox Friday. That’s OK though, it’s not too late, because there are still some excellent points Peter asks us to remember as we go to the polls tomorrow. You are going to vote tomorrow, aren’t you?

In case you’re not acquainted with Mr. Morrison, he writes a newsletter concerning National,  Texas State and southeast Texas issues from a conservative / libertarian perspective. If you haven’t signed up for his newsletter, I highly recommend it.

Here is The Peter Morrison Report:

Will 2010 Elections Be a Repeat of 1994?‏

Election Day is fast approaching, and if the long lines for early
voting here in my hometown of Lumberton are any indication, big
changes are coming. It appears that the Republican party is almost
certainly going to win back control of the US House of
Representatives. There is even a slight possibility that they will
also win control of the Senate (although that is less likely). You
don’t have to be a prophet to see that this election is going to be
a major setback for Barack Obama and the Democrats. All the polls
point to major gains for the GOP. Republicans need to take at
least 39 seats currently held by Democrats to become the House
majority party. Five Thirty Eight, the website which was amazingly
accurate in its predictions for the 2008 elections, is currently
projecting that the GOP will pick up 61 seats.

Some pollsters are projecting lower numbers, but still enough to
control the House, while others are saying that the GOP could even
pick up 70 seats. Peter Hart, a well known Democratic pollster,
stated bluntly: “It’s hard to say that the Democrats are facing
anything less that a Category 4 hurricane.”

Of course, anything can happen between now and November 2nd, but
barring some sort of shocking development, it seems pretty clear
that the anger and energy we’ve seen expressed over the past couple
of years at town hall meetings and Tea Party rallies is still going
strong, and Democrats are going to be held accountable at the
ballot box for signing on to Obama’s radical leftist agenda. This
is certainly good news, and it shows what conservatives can
accomplish when we work hard and refuse to give up the fight.

However, if we’re not careful, a massive GOP victory could actually
be a setback in the long run. Many conservatives will be lulled
into a false sense of complacency if the GOP takes control of one
or both houses of Congress. Far too many people are locked into a
“Democrats bad, Republicans good” worldview; they assume that with
Republicans in place to oppose Obama, there’s nothing to worry
about. This attitude is widespread, and it has been one of the
main reasons conservatives have seen our agenda remain unfulfilled.

In 1994 a very similar realignment occurred. Voter anger at Bill
and Hillary’s left wing activism–NAFTA, ordering the military to
stop discharging homosexuals, and attempting to socialize health
care (not to mention the Waco massacre)–led to the so called
Republican Revolution, when the GOP took control of the House and
Senate for the first time in 40 years. For all the talk of
revolution, very little came of it. Which should have been no
surprise as the first thing the GOP majorities did was elect Newt
Gingrich Speaker of the House, and Bob Dole Senate Majority Leader.
Gingrich, for all his conservative bluster, has always been most
interested in advancing his own career, not pursuing an authentic
conservative agenda. Bob Dole was a McCain style Republican, a
“moderate” who prided himself on being able to compromise with the
Democrats.

Both Gingrich and Dole (and most other Congressional Republicans)
had helped Bill Clinton pass the disastrous NAFTA “free trade”
agreement prior to the 1994 election. After the “revolution”, they
then helped Clinton secure Congress’s approval of GATT/WTO.
Together these trade treaties have nearly wiped out America’s
manufacturing base, and led to increasing economic dependency on
Communist China. In spite of all these betrayals (and many more),
conservatives became complacent after the 1994 election, simply
because they assumed that with Republicans in charge, everything
would be fine.

Nothing could be further from the truth, and by now it should be
crystal clear that the words “Republican” and “conservative” don’t
have the same meanings, and that the problem isn’t just limited to
Gingrich and Dole. Look at how George Bush treated us. He teamed
up with Ted Kennedy to give us No Child Left Behind, the expensive
folly that won’t do a thing to close the achievement gap, but will
fill decent public schools with bad students after their own
schools have been shut down by NCLB. He pushed banks to lower
lending standards for minorities, leading directly to the mortgage
crisis. He bailed out Wall Street to the tune of 700 billion
dollars. In 2004 he mobilized Christians and conservatives to
rally to the polls to re-elect him by talking tough on gay
marriage, but after he won re-election he never mentioned the
subject again. He and the GOP Congress gave us the prescription
drug bill, which is projected to cost America trillions in the
future. They also did nothing as millions of illegal aliens poured
into America under Bush’s watch.

Here we go again.

That paragon of economic virtue, Teresa Ghilarducci has surfaced once more to expound the benefits of the government taking over seizing confiscating stealing your 401k “for your own good.” I wrote about this little banshee back in May, after O’biden made a slip of the tongue with regard to their plans for redistributing your retirement nest egg. Now, it appears she has been gaining ground with her arguments because, as Doug Ross points out, it’s not off the table. In fact, your 401k may be part of the main course for the upcoming lame duck session of Congress.

Doug writes:

…I am not a conspiracy theorist. But I can put two and two together. Earlier this evening Papa B pointed me to an oozing secretion from the Puffington Roast, which markets the idea that 401(k) retirement savings accounts are evil and should be abolished.

He goes on to detail Mzzz. Ghilarducci’s well laid plans to confiscate your dough.

Guilarducci and the Democrats are advocating legalized theft of the juicy trillions of dollars Americans have saved in their retirement plans. Nationalizing those accounts would support massive new spending programs plus payoff the unions and crony capitalists looking for more bailouts at the “workers’” expense.

Please do read the whole thing. Then listen to the interview she gave with Mark Levin in October of 2008. It’s linked in the Doug Ross article but just in case, here is the link again.

I also find it worth noting that:

Mz. Ghilarducci was named by US News and World report as the Most Dangerous Woman in America back in 2008. It appears they may have been on to something.

And, Mz. Ghilarducci “at times” has been a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, a fact noted in their National Political Committee meeting minutes of Sept. 28-29, 2009 as being considered for Vice Chair. – Thanks Wikipidia.

Keep your eyes peeled, folks. They’re not done by a long shot.

But neither are we.

How ironic is this?

And what do you mean by “appear?” Is he going to emerge from a mythical, magical cloud of smoke? Since they’ve already announced it, they kind of blew that surprise though, don’t you think?

But I guess it is an option.

Via the Christian Science Monitor comes the headline:

“Obama on ‘MythBusters’: Will he get to blow something up?”

I would have edited that to read “Will he get to blow something else up?” especially after the last year and a half with  he, Pelosi, Reid and the whole Hee-Haw gang of Democrats having presided over the destruction of what remained of our Constitution.

Never mind the facts though. The CSM staff is giddy, giddy with excitement.

We can’t wait – will Obama wear a toga? Will he hold up a big magnifying glass and light fire to a sheet of poll numbers to show the gang how it’s done?

Sheesh. I bet given the chance, he’d light The Bill of Rights with that magnifying glass and use it to light a cigarette.

OOPS! Look what I did! Tee Hee Hee. Oh well, time for a smoke break.

Here’s an idea that will never happen: Howsabout we take that magnifying glass and examine that mythical birth certificate? Hmmm? Let’s put those years of mythbusting to some actual use. But alas, that ain’t gonna happen. I wouldn’t believe anything that came out of their leftie little mouths anyway.

Still, there are endless possibilities and mysteries to be explored. They could hook him up to one of their lie detectors, but then again, I’m quite sure the polygraph machine couldn’t take so much abuse. There just isn’t that much room on those graphs for the required squiggling needle movement.

Bzzzzt. flappt. Ping!

Where did YOUR campaign contributions come from Mr. Obummer, sir? hmm?

Uhhh, Uhhh…

Is it true that you are secretly a Muslim?

Umm, er Uhh…

How many hospitals have you claimed to be born in? Hmmm?

Uhhh. Uhhmm. Well.

Which one was it really? Was it Kenya perhaps?

Uhh. I er um.

How about those communist connections with Frank Marshall Davis and Harry Bridges in Hawaii or Bill Ayers in Chicago?

Michelle, help!

Yes, these mysteries and more could be explored and the myths surrounding the man could be busted, but it isn’t going to happen.

One thing is sure. I won’t be watching.

I’m busy.
