2012 Election

Not that it would have done any good, but…

Every step in the right direction,

is a step in the right direction.

“Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.” ~ Ronald Reagan

If one of the duties of government is to safeguard the individual liberty of it’s citizens, then a number of our Texas State Representatives missed a golden opportunity with regard to (82) HJR 135, and in doing so, thumbed their noses at religious freedom and individual sovereignty.

The decision not to offer the amendment for a public vote is unfortunate in light of Obama’s recent dictatorial demands that religious affiliated hospitals or their insurance companies provide birth control or abortion pills. Indeed, a House Research Organization committee reported that the opposition to the amendment voiced concerns that the amendment would in fact, work as intended to protect a religiously affiliated hospital or institution from being required to perform procedures or provide services against their religiously held beliefs!

Examples might be [snip] religiously affiliated hospitals using the constitutional amendment to challenge requirements that they provide certain procedures.

We the people of Texas were not allowed to vote on this amendment because even though the committee voted unanimously to send the bill for a vote, it did not gain the 2/3 majority required to present it to the people. Sadly, some of our Representatives failed to protect religious freedom from the growing federal leviathan.

I received news of this dereliction of duty from Daniel Miller, a small businessman running in a local Republican primary in Texas who gave a brief synopsis of the bill and provided a handy list of the representatives who voted to deny your opportunity to vote on the amendment.

Handy indeed.

Here is Daniel’s take on the issue:

ObamaCare, Texas & Religious Liberty

In the waning hours of the 82nd session of the Texas Legislature, a bill quietly wound its way through the political machine in Austin that was, perhaps, one of the most important bills in the session.

Introduced by Representative Larry Phillips, HJR135 was a proposed constitutional amendment that seemed like a “no-brainer” and under a Texas House of Representatives with a supermajority of Republicans, should have passed with no problems.

The bill would have corrected what has been a glaring oversight in the Bill of Rights in our state constitution – the mandate of protection of religious liberty.

It would have amended the Article 1 Section 6 of the Texas Constitution that currently reads:

“All men have a natural and indefeasible right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of their own consciences. No man shall be compelled to attend, erect or support any place of worship, or to maintain any ministry against his consent. No human authority ought, in any case whatever, to control or interfere with the rights of conscience in matters of religion, and no preference shall ever be given by law to any religious society or mode of worship.”

However, with continual attacks from the Federal Government on the religious liberties of Texans, HJR135 would have placed before the voters an opportunity to strengthen the protection by adding the following language to Section 6:

“The government may not, directly, indirectly, or incidentally, substantially burden an individual’s or a religious organization’s conduct that is based on a sincerely held religious belief, unless the government is: acting to further a compelling governmental interest, and using the least restrictive available means to do so. But it shall be the duty of the Legislature to pass such laws as may be necessary to protect equally every religious denomination in the peaceable enjoyment of its own mode of public worship.”

However, this proposed amendment did not appear on the ballot for Constitutional amendments this past November. With a Republican supermajority in the House, it failed to receive the support of 2/3rds of the members necessary to be placed on the ballot and, therefore, Texans did not get a chance to vote for it.

The session closed and this bill to protect your religious liberty died a quiet death.

However, this bill, its death and the responsibility of purported “conservatives” who voted to kill it are all roaring back to the surface.

The consequences of the death of this bill are now being felt at this very moment by Catholics, Baptists, Methodists and virtually all other religious denominations throughout Texas.

As Texans everywhere prepare for the disastrous implementation of ObamaCare, Christians and all people of faith are now at a decision point. “Do we obey God or government?”

A provision of ObamaCare mandates that all health-care plans in the United States cover sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives, including “Plan B” and others that cause abortions.

Religious hospitals, universities and charitable organizations would not be exempt from the regulation, nor would individual Christians, business owners, or insurers.

This ObamaCare provision forces those who are opposed to abortion to violate their conscience and participate in support of those actions.

However, had every Republican in the Texas House voted for HJR135 then the Legislature would have been forced to take action against this Federal attack on religious liberty and the Attorney General would have firm, unambiguous Constitutional grounds to fight for the rights of Christians in Texas.

We teach our children that actions have consequences. This is why. The actions of those who killed HJR135 will have far-reaching and long-lasting consequences.

Rather than standing for religious liberty their lack of courage opened the door for those who would seek to take it away. Rather than allowing the people of Texas to raise their voices in support of religious liberty, they robbed us of that right. Rather than giving us concrete protection of our “natural and indefeasible right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of our own consciences”, they force us to answer the question, “Do I obey God or government?”

Here is a list of State Representatives who voted against religious liberty in Texas:

Nays — Allen; Alonzo; Anchia; Anderson, C.; Burnam; Davis, Y.; Farias; Gallego; Geren; Giddings; Gonzales, V.; Gonzalez; Hernandez Luna; Hopson; Howard, D.; Johnson; King, T.; Lucio; Lyne; Mallory Caraway; Martinez; McClendon; Pickett; Quintanilla; Raymond; Reynolds; Ritter; Rodriguez; Sheffield; Smith, W.; Strama; Walle.

This is just one example of why local and State elections have large consequences.

Vote wisely, my friends.

Daniel Miller is a true Conservative running in the Texas D21 Republican primary against a former Democrat with one of the most liberal voting records in the state (who incidentally changed party affiliation to Republican just after the 2008 election).

Please consider donating to Daniel’s campaign to unseat a life-long liberal and certified RINO. We need to remind Austin of Texas’ duty to protect it’s people from the intrusion of the federal government into decisions which aught to be entirely personal.

Curmudgeon from the blog Political Clown Parade has been busy lately putting together three motivational videos regarding the 2012 election. I would encourage you to watch them all.

How much do we borrow to buy votes fund unearned entitlements?

Spent the New Year weekend on a road trip to west Texas and just had to stop to take a picture of this wonderful juxtaposition. I liked the idealism represented by the Peace Sign symbol at the entrance of this ranch contrasted with the common sense realism exemplified by the Vote to Stop Obama sign. Yes, the two ideas CAN live in the same world.

I also like the prominent flag display and the show of support for the local volunteer fire department.

Peter Morrison is back with an admonition to conservative Texans to get busy on the next election cycle. What with the federal courts intervening in our redistricting process, it makes this election ever more important to weed out the RINO’s from state and national politics as much as possible.

I think this applies to just about every state, even those that we may think are lost such as California. After all, every move towards conservatism is a step back from communism.

The Peter Morrison Report

Summary of this week’s report:

RINOs are the curse of the GOP, but, as hard as it is to believe after two years of Tea Party activism, many key RINOs are still in office and Joe Straus is still the Texas Speaker.  Despite the current redistricting turmoil, we need to organize to give the boot to as many RINOs in Austin and DC as possible.

Full report:

In 2012, Texas conservatives need to focus our energies on removing our own RINOs from office, and keeping them off the Republican ticket, this coming election.  It’s impossible to overstate how important this task is, on both the state and the national levels.  RINOs are poison to a conservative agenda.   There is little real difference between them and Democrats, and once elected they use their power to sabotage attempts to enact good conservative legislation.  We’ve seen this take place in Austin over and over.  No matter how loudly conservatives speak at the polls, and how good prospects for conservative legislation look, the RINOs in the party often manage to water good bills down, or block them altogether.

On top of this, activist federal judges have thrown the election into complete turmoil by throwing out the new legislative district maps recently drawn up in Austin, creating their own maps, and ordering the state to follow them.  This was in response to a lawsuit claiming that the maps drawn up in Austin discriminated against non-white voters, particularly Hispanics.  The court found in their favor and drew up new maps that were much more to their liking, because they include more districts where Hispanics are a majority. (You can compare the legislature’s map and the court’s map by doing an internet search for Texas District Viewer.) Given long established voting patterns, what this boils down to is that the court has created several more solidly Democratic districts, and eliminated some solidly Republican districts.

Attorney General Greg Abbott has filed an emergency appeal with the US Supreme Court to put the enactment of this ruling on hold, partly because Monday, November 28th was the first day a person who intends to run for office could file paperwork for a place on the ballot.  When it’s not even clear what districts will exist come Election Day, it’s pretty difficult to file the proper paperwork, so everything is in flux right now. Hopefully common sense and judicial restraint will prevail at the Supreme Court, and this ruling will be put on hold, but that is by no means certain.  Furthermore, even if this ruling does wind up being eventually overturned on appeal, the voting trends driven by huge population growth among Hispanics in Texas virtually assure that the state legislature and Congressional delegation will become increasingly less Republican and more Democratic.

Given all these factors – the dim prospects of a truly conservative presidential candidate, the state elections being up in the air, and the massive demographic changes taking place in Texas, it’s imperative that we work harder than ever in 2012 to elect genuine conservatives to the state house and to Congress.  The 2010 elections demonstrated what we can do when we’re truly motivated, and we need to recapture that same level of energy and motivation for the Republican primaries of 2012, which take place in early March.

If a RINO currently represents your district in Austin or DC, or if one is currently the favorite for the GOP nomination, start organizing now to defeat him or her in the primary.  Wherever there are genuine conservative challengers, it’s time to get behind them. If there aren’t currently any, it’s time to recruit someone.  If you don’t know of anyone else that might run, consider running yourself! It’s easy to think of reasons not to run or get involved, but as Edmund Burke once said, “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”

Don’t underestimate the impact you may have.  All incumbents either run unopposed or run scared.  RINOs in particular know they have betrayed their base and are scared of being called on it.  Several conservatives won in 2010 in the primary against well-funded incumbents, like former RINO state representatives Tommy Merritt and Delwin Jones.  By running against someone, even if you lose, you make them spend money, money that an unopposed incumbent can use to prop up his fellow RINOs in other districts.  If you lose and do better than expected, you might still accomplish your goal.

Case in point: RINO Burt Solomons just announced he won’t be seeking re-election.  Insiders I know report that this is because he was shown to be weak in the 2010 primary when he squeaked by with 53% of the vote against an opponent who spent a tiny amount of money, and big money conservative donors were looking to run a very strong race against him this year, so he chickened out.  There’s nothing more humiliating for an incumbent than to lose in a primary (and many of them are lazy from years in office with no serious campaigns), so often fear of losing makes them quit, and you win by default.  This happened in 2010 when RINO Brian McCall decided not to run after the Tea Party started organizing against him in 2009; now that district is represented by a real conservative, Rep. Van Taylor.  Slowly but surely conservatives are removing the turncoats who betrayed their constituents and elected Joe Straus as Speaker.

The Republican primary election date of March 6th is not very far away at all.  Right now, the candidate filing deadline is December 15th.  That may change, depending on what happens in the courts.

In the next few weeks we’ll have a definitive answer one way or another on the redistricting map, so if your district is currently in flux that should change soon.  So keep an eye on the news, and get ready to do battle this March with GOP sellouts!

If you have any specific questions about your district, such as whether your incumbent deserves a challenger, feel free to email in.  I can find out if there is an existing challenger and help connect you with some folks who can help you if you decide to run.

Video after the page break:

From Jared Law at The 9.12 Project:

The so-called ‘National Popular Vote’ movement is, indeed, a threat to the electoral college, a wise, inspired system our Founding Fathers set up to help provide yet another firewall to a dictator taking control of America before we had a chance to react. California has already completed the process to flip the bird at the Founding Fathers and the Constitution.

Phyllis Schlafly:

A plot is afoot to change our constitutional form of government by ditching the Electoral College. John Anderson, Birch Bayh and John Buchanan, three losers who were defeated in the 1980 Reagan landslide, are scheming to change our Constitution without complying with the amendment process.

Our Constitution requires that a president be elected by a majority of votes in the Electoral College, with each state’s vote weighted based on its population. But some who took an oath to defend our Constitution are plotting to undermine its essential structure by a compact among as few as eleven of the most populous states.

The plan of this Campaign for the National Popular Vote (NPV) is to get states with at least 270 votes in the Electoral College to enact identical bills requiring their own electors to ignore the winner of their state’s election and cast all their state’s ballots for the candidate who the state believes received more popular votes than the other candidates nationwide, even if he fails to win a majority of the popular vote.

Read the whole thing. Then, contact your state and national senators and representatives. If they sneak this through, we will lose the republic.

UPDATE:

Just saw this from Professor Jacobson at Legal Insurrection:

National Popular Vote debacle looming

Readers of this blog know that I believe Obama is a stealth Muslim. I still believe it to be true, even though some recent events such as the deaths of Osama bin Laden, Alawar al Alaki and many other top level terrorists would seem to contradict such an opinion. Later, I will propose a scenario where both truths could be possible.

There are also a growing number of people coming to at least suspect Obama to be a Manchurian President. Given his handling of Middle East policy of ignoring or actively supporting militant Islamic groups while simultaneously denigrating our Israeli allies, I must agree that the Manchurian President theory is not just possible, it is highly probable and as such, must be considered. My aim here is to take these possibilities to the ugliest possible conclusion, because if even remotely true, it would have catastrophic consequences for freedom loving peoples the world over. It would also be the Mother of All Conspiracies.

Liar!

It is known that Islam allows and in some cases encourages its followers to lie to unbelievers in order to achieve the goal of world dominance and submission to the faith. This is called Taqiyya – Saying something that isn’t true,” or another form which is Kitman – Lying by omission.” ~ This brings up a question in my mind secondary to the theory I am proposing: What kind of god allows and encourages his followers to engage in deceit? A false god, that’s who, one who is completely contrary to the one true God of the Jews and of the Christians, who encourages truth and calls lying a sin, but I digress.

The stated goal of Islam is to convert all non-believers to the faith or enslave them to their theocratic rule through Sharia law and ultimately establish a Caliphate with a Caliph, or single high priest, who will rule over the entire world under the authority of Allah and establish world domination of their religion.

Jihad is the Way [The 1995 book by Mustafa Mashhur, who headed the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt from 1996-2002.] explicitly endorses the reinstatement of a worldwide Islamic regime.

“It should be known that jihad and preparation towards jihad are not only for the purpose of fending off assaults and attacks of Allah’s enemies from Muslims, but are also for the purpose of realizing the great task of establishing an Islamic state and strengthening the religion and spreading it around the world.”

 The Theory:

Obama wants to be the Caliph

 Usurper!

Regarding the Middle East and the Arab Uprisings, the Obama administration has done nothing to discourage, and everything to encourage unrest and in many cases helped promote anti-American interests to power in Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon. At the same time, Yemin and many other Middle Eastern countries have seen bloody protests funded by and instigated by the Muslim Brotherhood while Obama ignores the uprising in Iran against the Ahmadinejad regime, a sworn enemy of the United States. Why would Obama promote unrest by his indecisive behavior or in some cases, support Muslim Brotherhood activity with US military forces in Libya while ignoring obvious pro-democratic uprisings in Iran? I think the answer is obvious. He wants to promote the Islamic religion and ultimately the worldwide Caliphate theocracy. Think that is an outrageous accusation? Tell it to the Pakistani government minister who called for Obama to claim the title of Caliph.

Assassin!

Osama bin Laden, Al Qaeda’s second in command Atiyah Abd Al-Rahman and a host of top terrorists have been killed during Obama’s presidency, which prompted ABC’s Jake Tapper to remark:

Remember when Rudy Giuliani warned that electing Barack Obama would mean that the U.S. played defense, not offense, against the terrorists?

If this is defense, what does offense look like?

Just last week American born terrorist Alawar al Alaki is taken out by American forces under the command of Barack Hussein Obama. Taken at face value, one could assume that Obama ordered these killings; however, the opposite could be true. As in the case of bin Laden, our military was on target long before Obama was even aware of the fact and actually had no choice but to sign off on the killing lest he be painted as aiding and abetting the enemy. Speculatively, the same scenario could have transpired for Al Rahman, al Alaki and the others. Our forces could have been on target and it would just plain look bad if the president told them to stand down.

Traitor-in-Chief!

If Obama is in fact engaging in Taqiyya or Kitman, then he would betray his Muslim identity by expressing regret or remorse at the deaths of his allies. If we take it one step farther, (here comes the overactive imagination), Obama could, in fact, be engaging in a double-cross against his Muslim brothers; He could claim plausible deniability in these killings while deftly using his position as president to take out any candidates or would-be contenders to himself becoming the Caliph. He is in the perfect place from which to carry this out, probably the only place from which it can be done: The White House.

Going a bit farther still, the idea of using his position to eliminate his rivals may not have occurred to Obama until bin Laden was taken out or even later, but the possibility is still a viable one. Perhaps narcissist Obama is now recognizing other advantages to being leader of the country he despises.

Caliph?

If this theory is correct, I think Obama will eventually remove Ahmadinejad, who I believe sees himself as the rightful Caliph, but the timing is not right, especially since Ahmadinejad presents a threat to the US that he can use in the future to bolster Obama’s image as a decisive leader – perhaps a war with Iran or another assassination in the days, weeks or months leading up to the 2012 election?

Outré

Obviously, I’m not sure about any of this. Who could be except Obama himself?  I’m just trying to make sense of what Obama is doing and increasingly, in my mind, the evidence points to Obama’s malicious destruction of America as a necessary step in a larger plan – and that should trouble us all.

Robo-log: Wednesday 8-24-11

So, here I am with a pulled or torn Achilles tendon, lying in bed with an ice pack under the heel. Yea, I know, I should get it examined to be sure no other damage has occurred. Maybe I’ll go tomorrow, if it doesn’t improve today.

But, that’s not the reason for this post. This post is about the next election and how the TEA Party is being vilified by the media. I know, you’re saying to your monitor right now ‘‘bot, you don’t watch the liberal media, how could you know they are painting the TEA Party as wanting to take away grandma’s Social Security payments and Medicare?’ Well, I’ll tell you; because a close family member watches the MSM and soaks up every helpful, hateful word.  He then decides to share that information with me in the form of useful tidbits of knowledge sprinkled into our casual conversations.

“How did you hurt your foot?” He asks.

“I have no idea. I woke up, got out of bed Sunday morning and as soon as I hit the floor it started barking at me. By the time I went to bed yesterday evening, I couldn’t put any weight on it at all without excruciating pain.”  I replied. “Last night, I was hopping around the house on my one good foot. I figure that was an accident waiting to happen.”

“Have you made a doctor’s appointment?”

“Not yet, I figured I’d better get some crutches before I tried to go anywhere.”

“Well, here they are. I hurt my leg a while back and the boss on the job told the company I hurt it at work so the government would pay for them.”

“Thanks, I appreciate the loan. They’re going to be a big help. How have you and the Missus been getting along since you both retired?” I asked.

“Doing good, trying to survive on our Social Security and pensions. That’s all going away if the TEA Party gets their way.” He added, helpfully.

Nice. He’s furnishing me with a means of locomotion and now, armed with the knowledge of their illicit procurement, I feel mildly guilty for using them. Adding to the ironic, hypocritical, monologue he takes the opportunity to share the latest MSM talking points: The ludicrous idea that the TEA Party want to take away his Social Security payments. I just looked at him, knowing better than to engage. No point in arguing with a liberal, much less a family member who’s trying to help me out in a bad situation. Besides, I know he’s trying to goad me into an argument and I’m in no mood to play. He is, unfortunately, just another blind, lemming Democrat. (Was that redundant?)

I share this story not to complain of a strained tendon, or of a semi-strained family relationship. I tell you this story to let you know what kind of mindset we are up against. It’s a mindset born of Generational Training. It’s a thought process devoid of thought, that still believes every drooling word from mongrel lap dogs like Chris Mathews or Maxine Waters or from Obama himself. They are the true mind-numbed robots, all too willing to believe the lies and exaggerations, regurgitated and beak-fed to them, the liberal Children of Government, unable, in their minds, to fend for themselves and utterly convinced the TEA Party wants your aged parents or grandmother homeless, without health care and barely subsisting on a diet of Alpo and crackers.

BALDERDASH!

The TEA Party is about less government, namely, less Federal Government in our lives. We don’t want to take your Social Security. The government already stole it from you without your permission or consent and, unreported by the likes of the MSM, we think you deserve to get it back, as promised. Nor do we think the poor, or disadvantaged should be forgotten. We just disagree in principle on the definitions of poor and disadvantaged. We don’t believe people on food stamps and welfare should be driving around in cars more expensive than the citizens’ that paid for them or living in houses furnished with big screen televisions and broad band internet. Those are luxury items and should be reserved for the people WHO WORK FOR THEM!

My relative has yet to realize his party left him long ago.

The TEA Party is the working class!

The TEA Party is Middle America, trying to salvage what is left of our country before it is torn apart from the inside by a wanna-be two-bit dictator and his commie cohorts.

We’re tired of politicians buying votes with our stolen money in the name of some fictitious war on poverty while they do nothing more than increase the entitlement mentality and lining their pockets with the excess.

We also think that countless illegal immigrants should not have their hands in that cookie jar either, a jar they only take from and have never contributed to.

We are tired of bailouts and corporate takeovers, of crony capitalism, of commies in congress and socialistic presidents and class warfare and of being told to shut up.

I will never shut up. You can pry this keyboard from my cold dead fingers because even though some of those zombie liberals know not what they do, they need the opportunity to learn.

Now, where’s the ice…

…and the Jim Beam?

Why the Beam, you ask?

Well, aside from the obvious need for pain killing, medicinal purposes, today, 8/25/11, marks the second year anniversary of Robo-blogging. ~ Cheers!

The other day I caught a reference to the previously unknown-to-me blog, Pesky Truth, where Garnet92 has written a couple of excellent articles on The Good and The Bad sides of Texas Governor Rick Perry. They are well researched and include links to most, if not all, cited references. While I’m not endorsing any republican candidate at the moment, I highly recommend these as a starting point to educate yourself on Perry’s positives and negatives.

Thanks to Dwayne for the email.

Here it comes…

Obama will soon double quadruple down on his failing socialist agenda. (Failing being a very relative term in this case.)

The talking heads on the left (read: Progressive/Marxist) are busy trying to paint themselves as centrist and objective while whining that their president has abandoned them. Or something. All to get the liberal base all wee-wee’d up to clamor for more spending and taxing and speeches about spending and taxing, which is what they do so well.

Our mighty mighty Photoshop™ friend Curmudgeon, over at Political Clown Parade has outdone their-self with a creepy Obama devil/alien/socialist/loser pic in answer to answer one Peggy Noonan quip.

Smitty takes time from tending his handsome newborn son to pen a few notes on the issue.

Dan Collins over at The Conservatory posted a reply to Mzzz. Noonan as well.

And Newsbusters’ Brent Baker catches three talking points being floated around the talk shows today.

What does it mean?

Classic democrat play book. The talking heads will pretend to be surprised that Obama has “moved too far to the right” when he has done no such thing; all the while painting the only adults in the room (read: TEA Party Conservatives and Libertarians) as the ones who are out of their minds for *gasp* addressing the true problems of over-spending and a government that is growing too big too fast which, in case you haven’t noticed, is the REAL crisis.

The Democrats/Progressives/Commies and RINO’s are deathly afraid that we will take away their credit cards, as well they should be because that would decrease their ability to buy more votes with your hard earned cash. So keep on fighting, calling your congress-critters and faxing the faxes because it ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings. The problem is, they would want you to believe that you’ve gained a little ground when you’ve actually been backed into another corner.

Don’t fall for it.

To quote a good friend of mine: WOLVERINES!

UPDATE: Joy McCann also posted on this yesterday at The Conservatory. Thanks for the heads-up, LMA!

Conservatives should be wary of nominating just “anyone.” We need to carefully select who will run against Oblahblah else we could end up with another Bush who will lead us in the same progressive direction, just taking the scenic route. Or worse, not nominate a candidate conservative enough to defeat Oblather at all.

Spellchek has a great essay on what it will take to save the country and a few musings on the establishment. Here’s a sample:

Capitalism must have a failure mechanism. It’s the only way it works. Bailouts don’t apply. Government intervention and market manipulation don’t either. You can’t experience the rewards of capitalism and the opportunities it provides without the risk of failure present. That’s the check and balance to keep the free market honest. No bailouts, no stimulus, no artificial interest rate manipulation, no printing money, no picking winners and losers. None of it. In other words, none of the Obama agenda can be tolerated.

He doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to the RINO GOP contenders either. I highly recommend you read the whole thing.

This Independence Day weekend while we are having fun at cookouts and gatherings we would do well to keep in mind the sacrifices the Founders made in order to create the US of A and think about what we should do to save her.

God Bless America.

Yes. For some reason, it seems we need to.

The coming 2012 election should not be framed in ideology of Right versus Left, Republican vs. Democrat or Libertarian/Conservative vs. Liberal.

The main issue of this election is whether we the people of this country choose to enslave our neighbors using the machinery of mob rule democracy or reclaim our lost liberties and return to the original intent of our Constitutional Republic. That is the issue.

Either you are an asset to society or you are a burden on it.

The 2012 election should be framed in light of the government’s unbridled over-expansion. Today, the US government in engaged in an unhinged, un-American  mission to encourage sloth and preach entitlement theology, enabled and encouraged by the uninformed citizen and the educated elitist alike while funding the assault on the backs of the very people they prostitute but claim to protect: the everyday American.

This is but one example from The Heritage Foundation 2011 Budget Chart Book

The world the Statists would establish is one of dependency on government as a patriarch who makes even the most mundane decisions for us and therefore, as a child of government, we will have no rights or property except what illusion they would allow.

This election is about American versus un-American.

It’s about Freedom versus Slavery.

I’ve been thinking along these lines for a while. After all, what is governmental redistribution of wealth but slavery? But the possibility that there may be more people in this country who are against America as founded than are for it really hit home when I saw this retweeted from Pat Dollard last week:

@MerlePearl Merle

Scary, but true. RT @PatDollard If Obama wins the next election, then there aren’t enough Americans left for it to be America anymore.

To which I replied:

Too true. Unfortunate as well is, that knowledge could serve to energize either base.

Have too many Americans forgotten what it means to be uniquely American?

It’s a bit terrifying to me that we’ve come this far down the road to Socialism, Communism or Statism. Call it what you will, but the America we thought we knew is teetering on the precipice of a debt cliff caused by overspending on unearned entitlements. If it is not reversed, America simply can not survive. No country can, or ever has when using the economic model being employed.

It’s as if there is some genetic defect that keeps mutating every generation, eating away at our Self Reliance Gene. Everywhere you look, before acting, (pod) people stop and ask themselves what kind of government subsidy can they get for doing A, B or C or what entity they need approval from to do X, Y or Z, or boast to a co-worker about how much Uncle Sam gave him for his clunker or how much they received from some other such government incentive program. Where do you think that money comes from?

It is through slow, methodical, generational training that you feel these things are normal.

Once upon a glorious free country, you needed only the approval of your heart and a fearless ambition to pursue whatever you set in your mind to. As long as no-one else or their property was harmed, then by all means, go ahead. You were free to succeed and free also to fail. Now, that freedom to act at will has been taken from us. We must get a permit to do just about anything. Someone or some entity must approve of your plans before you can break ground on a homestead, start a business or attempt to market your latest invention, all under the guise of government knowing better than you. Slowly, generation by generation, the evil that is an unrestrained government has eaten away at the American foundation of self reliance.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

C. S. Lewis
English essayist & juvenile novelist (1898 – 1963)

Make no mistake folks, this election is about the survival of America as she was founded.

It will be the single most important election in which you ever will cast a vote. America lives or dies in 2012. This election is about defining what it means to be an American. The true definition of an American has been gerrymandered and perverted by the media, in legislation and regulation and in the halls of ‘higher education.’

“Concentrated power is not rendered harmless by the good intentions of those who create it.”
Milton Friedman

The true definition of an American has been diluted by diversity and diffused by political correctness. Our defining characteristic, what makes us Americans, has in some cases been stolen along with our dignity. We must reclaim our pride in our American heritage and reassert our love of liberty by standing up to the detractors, the apologizers,  the America haters and the would be en-slavers.

This election is about American self reliance versus forced servitude. It is also about framing the question as such.

The good news is that, according to the Obama administration, the rich will pay for everything. The bad news is that, according to the Obama administration, you’re rich.
P. J. O’Rourke

It is un-American to take from your neighbor so that you may have what he doesn’t.

It is also un-American to take from someone who works so that you don’t have to. Right now there are working class people who toil away at their jobs under threat of losing their livelihood if they show up late, fail a drug test, are insubordinate to their employer or any number of prerequisites for employment while at the same time, the people who benefit from those stolen monies are not required to adhere to any such standards. – That is un-American to its core. It is also thievery.

In America today one can’t get a decent job without background checks and drug tests and aptitude tests and any number of requirements for employment. It’s a circus of flaming hoops, but we do it because we love our families, we still have our pride and we need to make money to survive. What pride the takers once had, they exchanged for a welfare check or a stack of food stamps and a cell phone at the behest of a “benevolent” government. Without renouncing their selfish attitude, is there any question to what they will vote for? They will vote for more of your money and they will do so because of generational training.

These people are our brothers and sisters. They are our fellow Americans. They don’t desire our pity, nor would we grant them any. They have simply lost their feeling of self worth and may not even be aware of it. I believe some of them deep down, know or suspect the wrong they are doing, the harm they inflict on their own country, but peer pressure and the entitlement culture beckon them to stay in the fold. Sadly, the ultimate irony is, the problem was created by the very bureaucrats they vote to keep in office, urged to do so by demagogue leaders willing to sell them down the road to maintain their own minor pedestals of power. It is a fact that inequity exists in the American system, truly, it exists in all governments to some degree, but one cannot legislate equality of outcome, only equality of opportunity. That is the promise of America’s Constitution.

That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.
Abraham Lincoln

When the politicians and political hypochondriacs scream that some true libertarian/conservative “wants to end social security” or that the TEA Party “wants to kill grandma” or end some so-called entitlement, they are selling all Americans into slavery, plain and simple.

We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.
Abraham Lincoln

It’s time for Americans to re-claim what it means to be a true American.

Instead of thinking “What is government going to give me?” (What can I take from my neighbor?), we need to think about what we can do for our neighbors.

Like the Founders before us, we can give them freedom. It’s up to all of us to keep it.

That is what it means to be a true American.

A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.

Gerald Ford
