Ten-Buck-Friday

Week Seven of a Nine Week Mission, to Seek new life for the Senate, to Boldly shuttle Harry Reid back to irrelevance!

Focusing on the Senate races, is it worth ten bucks a week to you (three gallons of gas?) to eliminate Reid’s control and give the Senate responsible leadership again?

With that in mind, this week we look to the Senate seat in Colorado. Can you contribute just $10 to Senate candidate Cory Gardner?

Real Clear Politics has Gardner up 3.0 and rates the race as a toss up.

You can contribute to Cory Gardner here. Good luck and Godspeed, Cory!

Ten-Buck-Friday

Back in halcyon years of old (2010), some conservative bloggers put forth a plan where, a poll would be taken of conservative candidates around the country and the winner would be the recipient of a ten dollar contribution to their campaign. Forgive me for not taking a poll, but there are only nine Fridays between now and the midterm elections. Our country has not had a budget passed in the Senate since 2009, forcing a series of continuing resolutions which keep the nation at the brink of a shut down and masks the obscene amounts of money that the President and Congress want to spend. Hundreds of bills passed in the House are not even brought up for a vote in Harry Reid’s Senate.

Focusing on the Senate races (Republicans need just six seats to oust the bottleneck, hyper partisan Harry Reid as majority leader), is it worth ten bucks a week (two lattes?) to eliminate Reid’s control and give the Senate responsible leadership again?

With that in mind, this week we look to the open Senate seat in GA. Can you contribute just $10 to Senate candidate David Perdue?

Real Clear Politics has Perdue up 3.8 points on the average, but rates the state as a toss up.

You can contribute to David Perdue here. Good luck and Godspeed, David!

Looks like Nancy is giving some of us a bad name. I would ask Rep. Gowdy, with all due respect, to please consider the mind-numbed among us when including the likes of Mzz Pelosi in our ranks.

Thanks to Independent Journal Review for the heads-up.

Will embed video when a computer is handy. Can’t seem to figure out how to do it from my schmaht fone.

So, Chris Wysocki nominated me for an award and called me “Influential” did he? Does that mean in a good way or a bad way? As in: “Here’s what not to do.” Could be the latter but I’ll assume the former, since Chis is Pretty Fly for a Jersey Guy.

Check it out. They even have a cool award logo:molonlaberattlesnake2

Wait. That’s not it.

Here it is:

most-influential-blogger1

Spiffy.

Now, about those rules. According to whoever came up with this little exercise, there is no actual voting, it’s just a fun way to bring recognition to other blogs and bloggers that are out there.

Here are the rules:

1. Display the award logo on your blog.

2. Link back to the person who nominated you

3. Answer 7 questions decided up by your nominator

4. Nominate ( no limit of nominations ) other bloggers for this award and link back to them.

5. Notify those bloggers of the award requirements.

Heh, I think even I can do a few of those things so, here we go.

Here are Chris’s questions:

1. Why did you start a political blog, and when?

When I saw the politicians and power brokers tank the economy in 2007 to help the democrats win the election, I woke up and started educating myself about the constitution. By the time I’d read Clousen’s The 5000 Year Leap and The Making of America: The Substance and Meaning of the Constitution and Levin’s Liberty and Tyranny, I decided just pissing and moaning about it to a few people in my small circle wasn’t enough. I think my first essay was Sept. 2009.

2. If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, who would it be?

Jesus.

3. Do you think there is any hope of restoring the United States to a constitutional republic in your lifetime?

In my lifetime? Doubtful. Too many feel entitled to the fruits of others’ labor and too many crony capitalists use the government to pilfer the rest from the citizenry. A great reawakening is coming. I pray it is not too late.

4. If you could choose one state for Conservatives to “take over” and reshape into a vision of America congruent with Constitutional / Conservative principles, what state would you choose and why?

Texas. Because I love and live here.

5. If you could retire anywhere, on or off the planet Earth, where would it be?

On a lake in Texas.

6. What book has influenced your life (other than the Bible or Torah) and describe how?

Politically, the books mentioned in #1. Early in my life I was a huge fan of Asimov.

7. iPhone, Droid, BlackBerry, or Windows Phone?

iPhone

Now, on to the nominations:

Spellchek

American Perspective

Dailey Gator

Obi’s Sister

Troglopundit

Bride of Rove

The Camp of the Saints

Adrienne’s Corner

Reaganite Republican

Here are the questions:

  1. Why did you start a political blog, and when?
  2. If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, who would it be?
  3. What is the best hope for America to return to founding principles and a constitutional republic?
  4. What book on politics would you most likely recommend to someone just waking up?
  5. What book would you recommend to wake someone up that hasn’t yet?
  6. Will conservatives succeed in reforming the republican party? If possible, how?
  7. Paper or plastic?

There you have it.

Go!

I think one fundamental difference between constitutionalists and leftists, perhaps THE fundamental difference, is pure selfishness.

As proof of this I offer only one example. Think back in your own experience. How often have you heard someone utter these words in response to the mention of a politician’s name:

“That SOB didn’t do anything for me!”

Too often I hear that as a heated, hate filled response to a conservative politician’s name.

It is evidence of an attitude that reflects 1) A gross ignorance in the way our system of government was meant to work and 2) A desire to use said government to benefit the individual.

Does said politician owe you something from the coffers of public funds? Because it sure sounds as if you think you are owed more than the rest of your fellow citizens.

How can anyone feel the legalized pilferage of your fellow Americans’ hard earned property is acceptable?

Simple.

They have been taught to separate the machinery of confiscation from that of redistribution and they’ve redefined charity so as to let the government decide who receives the “benefits.” Here’s a little news flash for ya, pal: Your tax dollars are purchasing votes through the bureaucracy of the Welfare system, the IRS, the EPA, the HHS and countless other alphabet agencies designed to distribute hard working Americans’ cash/property to a huge majority of those who don’t deserve it and if you are OK with that as long as you get your little piece of the pie, then you’re as guilty as they are.

It’s a sad but very telling state of affairs that some Americans’ attitudes have transformed from the immortal challenge of JFK “Ask not what your country can do for you! Ask what you can do for your country.”

to the immensely selfish

“That SOB didn’t do anything for me.”

If this is your idea of just governance, then you are part of the problem. You need to rethink your priorities and quit putting yourself ahead of our future generations.

People like you make me sick.

Perhaps one day, we can ditch the Me! Me! Me! bullshit and get back to what made America great: Hard work and Sacrifice.

UPDATE II: 5/11/13 (10:30am) Sometime yesterday evening I got my tweeps back. Yea! Thanks to Twitter and all of the fine folks who helped resolve that ordeal. I never heard why the accounts were suspended though. Strange. However (isn’t there ALWAYS a however?) Steve’s account is still suspended!

Be sure to turn up the heat on Twitter to get @stevemct released from Twitmo!

Thanks.

UPDATE 5/10/13 (6:23pm)

I’m out of Twitmo, along with @kshaidle @Moonbattery1 (who I was unaware were in suspended to begin with.) & @GoldwaterGal but we’ve all lost our following/followers lists! I had over 3000 and I kmow the others had to have more due to their popularity.

I’m still petitioning twitter on behalf of @SteveMCT who is still suspended, and trying to get our lists back.

Still haven’t received  any info from Twitter as to why or what happened.

The only cool thing is, it’s kinda fun to see the follower list repopulating so quickly. Seems like it took fo-eh-vah to get it where it was the first time.

Thanks again for all of your help and support!

Robo-love to you all. ~ ‘bot

———————Begin original post——————————–

#FreeMindNumbedRobot is not something I would have ever expected to see trending on the Twitterz, but for a time yesterday, it did. You see, yesterday evening as I sat down for a bite before band rehearsal, I checked my @mnrobot account to find it had been suspended and that I would need to submit a support ticket.

What ever for? What heinous crime had I perpetuated? Which hideous leftist troll had I provoked into lodging a complaint against me?

I still have no clue. I dutifully submitted the support request. Their automated reply service sent a return email stating that if I was suspended for automated or aggressive following behavior that I would have received an email stating such and if I hadn’t that I should send them a reply to the present email to re-open the ticket. Really? The ticket I just opened is AUTOMATICALLY closed unless I send a reply email? – Tedious, but very well. I sent the reply and have yet to receive another communication. *robo-sigh*

Then, with only a few moments to spare before rehearsal time, from my secondary account, @TxConservNews, (You ARE following @TxConservNews, aren’t you?) I made a basic message to some of the #tcot #tlot #vrwc Twitterati:

The original list was @CapitaLiszt @LittleMsLiberty @stevemct @WyBlog @MrEvilMatt @ZillaStevenson

And within seconds, before I was finished with my initial plea for help, the torch was picked up by @PubliusNV and @KingShamus YEA!

I also sent quick pleas to @smitty_one_each @rsmccain @BobBelvedere @loopyloo305 and @thatMrGguy.

By then, I was out of time for twitter pleading. I had music to attend to. Thus, it was to my great and humbling surprise when, during the course of the evening, I checked my twitter accounts from my schmaht-phone and found an amazing outpouring of support for little old me.

My musician friends (Who drools a lot and hangs out with Musicians? – Drummers! ~ Har!) looked at me with a deer-in-the-headlights stare when I couldn’t help myself and attempted to share how cool it was to see so many come to my defense. Even @Instapundit retweeted a few pleas!

“Twitter? Wut’s that?”

More fun still was the level of creativity of some of the tweets. My favorite was from none other than the tireless conservative journalist @RSMccain of The Other McCain! Thank you, sir. I’m honored.

I’ll let you click the link http://t.co/5sc3iuAbXN to find out who is happy I’m in #TwitterGulag. – Priceless.

Another tweet worthy of note was from @MObeso71

Be sure to check the image M.O. included. http://t.co/zJdLB6dfmr – lol

During the evening it also came to light that Twitter has suspended other members of our conservative band of bloggers/twitterati. My #vrwc friend @Stevemct (MotorCityTimes.com) has also been suspended and @GoldwaterGal is suspended as well. What gives, Twitter?

Another good friend in the #vrwc, Chris Wysocki of Wyblog posted a plea at his new place Pretty Fly for a Jersey Guy #FreeMindNumbedRobot, please help get @mnrobot out of #TwitterGulag. Thanks bro!

I’ll not waste your time sharing every tweet here but please accept my sincere thank you for the show of support. As of this posting, my account is still suspended. If you would like to petition Twitter for my release, I of course would be grateful for any help. I would ask to please keep it clean and un-accusatory. I still do not know the reason for the suspension(s). Please direct your tweets to @twitter @support and in my case you can include the hashtags #FREE@mnrobot #FreeMindNumbedRobot.
