Like many of my fellow Awakened Americans, I was blessed to spend time over the holidays with family and friends, some whom belong to the less informed or ill-informed among us whose only news sources are the alphabet networks or random conversations with know-it-all leftists parroting the daily talking points. These encounters mainly serve to reinforce what I already perceive about our left-leaning opposition but at times shed some light on otherwise unthought-of nuances in the mindset of many leftists who at times exhibit the mental capacity of your common house plant or the occasional bird bath, but perhaps I’m being too harsh with house plants.
The indoctrination from our education system and MSM is apparent in many of their statements and is ever difficult for someone like myself to dismiss without rebuttal, but at a family gathering and having dove headlong into the breach on many such occasions to no avail reminds me that it’s a pointless endeavor. One reason is the inescapable fact that leftists are often unaware of how far to the left their ideological pendulum has swung, if they are aware of their own ideological leanings at all. They live within a brilliant, albeit deceitful, curtain of disillusion the elitists have constructed atop the shaky foundation of feelings and emotion rather than intellect and reason. Having no solid facts on which to base their views, they revert to a sad whirlpool of circular thought and diversionary tactics whenever a verifiable fact is raised.
- You’re a filthy Republican! (Not! I’m a libertarian/conservative!)
- You want my Grandma eating cat food! (Yummm!)
- But, but, but… Bush! (Yea, let’s complain about his spending by tripling it. Lets protest the Patriot Act by expanding it and passing the NDAA. You lose!)
- Hey! Look at the pretty unicorn! (Utopia!)
- Wait! You’re using Bullet Points! We must ban the use of high capacity Bullet Points!!!
And yet, even as they succumb to their feelings when justifying leftist imaginary projected outcomes, they will often cite a politician’s reported “intellect” as the reason for supporting their policies, as if the mere presence of intelligence precludes any malicious intent or illogical conclusions.
- Bill Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar! (Yawn.)
- Obama got a Nobel Prize! (Yawn.)
- I wrote-in Hillary! — (?)
- You’re using more bullet points!!!
This overwhelming need for hero worship, deserved or not is, I think, a confirmation of the analysis posed by Mark Levin in Ameritopia wherein he points to the Statist’s goals of a utopian world constructed for us by the educated elite. It points to a sheepish desire to not be forced to think but to blindly accept what one is allowed to do or possess simply because someone supposedly smarter said it is the right thing to do. After all, they are smarter than we are. They said so!
It is foreign to me that those who blindly follow this philosophy don’t fundamentally understand that such communal thinking is the antithesis of personal freedom. What these people have falsely been taught to believe is that utopian beliefs, aka: Socialism/Statism/Communism, can’t long exist within the same framework as the American Republic’s original form of government. The two ideas cannot be more opposed to each other. One cannot have just a bit of Statism, for Statism, like a cancer, must consume the entire host in order to succeed. And that success does not take into account the individual’s well being, only the well being of the State. Even at the end of such a progression, what does it benefit a State if, in the end it implodes to the detriment of all involved? Such is the proven outcome of any Statist government ever implemented.
And as long as I’m in rant mode…
Another fallacy I love to see ignored by my low (no) information brethren is the idea that the national debt and spending have no effect on our lives. They would love to believe that government budgets have no correlation to the household budget or corporate bank account or government’s manipulation of the value of our currency. Since government can simply print its own money doesn’t mean it is acceptable or ethical to do so. Quite the opposite, yet they continue to do so with little or no regard to what effect that has on your money’s worth, as if monetizing the debt will not lead to uncontrolled inflation or that if left unchecked has a very real chance of crashing the US and eventually the world economy. I’m no economist but even a lowly robot can see the writing on the wall.
Why can’t they?
Why WON’T they?
I’ll tell you why.
Ostrich Syndrome, That’s why.
Because the indoctrinated leftists WANT to believe what they’ve been told is the truth. Because, hey, if those “smart” politicians and policy wonks don’t know what they are doing, then no one can possibly know or understand what to do and we are doomed because, again, the leftist sheeple don’t want to think for their selves. They’ve relinquished all decision making to the elites, remember? They CAN’T think for themselves. The elite have told them NOT to. According to the Statist, they aren’t capable of it.
This is by design.
Here is a quote I found while taking Hillsdale College’s Constitution 201. I think it speaks volumes about today’s situation.
Woodrow Wilson said of the European States in “The Study of Administration” Nov. 1886:
“They sought so to perfect their machinery as to destroy all wearing friction, so to sweeten their methods with consideration for the interests of the governed as to placate all hindering hatred, and so assiduously and opportunely to offer their aid to all classes of undertakings as to render themselves indispensable to the industrious. They did at last give the people constitutions and the franchise; but even after that they obtained leave to continue despotic by becoming paternal. They made themselves too efficient to be dispensed with, too smoothly operative to be noticed, too enlightened to be inconsiderately questioned, too benevolent to be suspected, too powerful to be coped with. All this has required study; and they have closely studied it.”
Paternal Despotism is the current condition of the American experiment.
After a one sided conversation with and subsequent blocking by an old friend, I just had to vent.
To those it may concern,
The fact that we are Facebook “Friends” does not entitle you to post on my wall without discretion. That is doubly true if you decide to post derogatory things about myself or my acquaintances. Nor does it give you license to force me into endless circular “debates” of which you and I know there will never be an end. I know, you have nothing better to do than poke away at your Cheetoes encrusted keyboard and entertain yourself with your own banter but frankly, I can’t be bothered. Spare yourself the time and me the boredom.
What’s he on about?
It’s come to my attention via private message that some of you are discussing my apparent irreconcilable sadness of being, my malaise of discontent, that I’m surely circling life’s drain ala some giant Pirates of the Caribbean maelstrom while praying for the Kraken to end my misery as evidenced by the fact I’ve de-friended some and been de-friended by others. Trust me. Such is not the case. In fact, my life has been quite clearer of purpose and much less hectic now that I don’t feel the need to argue endless leftist talking points with people who choose not to place even a modicum of value in the US Constitution or consider it to be some living document ready and willing to be transformed to fit the leftist mold. Such folks do not deserve my attention except to keep watch on their evil agenda masquerading as social justice or wealth redistribution or free contraception or government health care or gun registration and confiscation. Simply put: I won’t play well with Communists, even if you’re in denial about that definition.
I am flattered, however, that some of those folks feel the need to discuss my apparent break from the fold. If I in fact have gone off your particular reservation, perhaps the point you should take from it is that I probably never belonged on that piece of land in the first place, or I possibly have had a change of heart about the way I look at the world in general and as such, now refuse to associate with those whose views are diametrically opposed to mine and I consider to be of ultimate detriment to the country and civil society. Or perhaps your version of a discussion is to lob smarmy remarks over the wall while hiding from the fray behind the coattails of another; a trait I find to be tediously childlike at best and disrespectfully dishonest at worst. I also find it interesting some folks find it necessary to come to the defense of said de-friended ass wipes without first asking for my side. After all, didn’t WE used to be friends? You can’t pick up the phone? My number hasn’t changed. Same old double standard is all I see. The rules can change in an instant because you make them up as you see fit. Well guess what, I quit playing your game. Sorry if you don’t like it. Just because we were once friends doesn’t force us to always be friends. In fact, it would do me and others a disservice if I continue to give a forum to those I adamantly disagree and especially those who choose to post false accusations on my wall or play cheerleader for those who do. And guess what, YOU wouldn’t either.
I’ve just about had it with Facebook trolls and bulletin board debates anyway. Either you’ve chosen a side by this point or you haven’t. Those in the latter are much more deserving of my time than the former and I can spot a pretender a mile away.
