Freedom is the Answer

I know I haven’t written anything in a while. Too much going on at work and at home to commit any brain cells to the task. I’ve also been preparing for the coming zombie apocalypse and attempting to convince my closest friends that their world is about to be flipped inside out if the newly elected officials don’t turn the tide tsunami of socialist, infanticidal fantasists running rampant in the halls of government and the main stream media.
We must become hyper-vigilant to any expression of progressive thought or action and take steps to combat it immediately at every instance. We must continue to recruit the newly awakened to the cause of saving America from within. The other option will surely lead us to riots in the streets much like we witnessed recently in Greece. Make no mistake, those people took to the streets because their government sold them socialism and either a) they now realize it is a lie, that the ponzi scheme has run its course, or more likely, b) they are whining about the well running dry and want another handout. Either way, the people have become slaves to their government. The idea of self reliance has been tossed out the window.
The more recent rioting in Tunisia and Egypt, in my opinion, have less to do with socialism than outright despotism, which is the next phase of any socialistic government. Unfortunately, uprisings, even ones calling for a democratic republic can be hijacked by outside influences, as could be the case with the Muslim Brotherhood attempting to move in to take power in the coming vacuum.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually, run out of other people’s money.
There is a simple fact that must be recognized as such. Utopia can not be found or created in a world under human control or creation. Humans are flawed and anything we create will be flawed as well. Giving too much power to too few people will always and inevitably result in abuse of that power. That is why the constitution should be held as sacred. The founders knew of our imperfect nature and put safeguards in place to hold government in check, on a leash, so to speak, and like a sandstone statue in the wind, the constitution was immediately set upon by the winds of ne’er-do-wells and progressives to erode the fingers that hold that leash.
I pray for our country and our people. I’m worried about my family, my neighbors and their children if we continue on this path of gimme gimme gimme more government with no thought of where the government gets it to give and no shame in it when the receiver is aware of the deal.
Entitlements and wealth redistribution, welfare, class envy and reparations, open borders, government takeovers, political correctness, crony capitalism and over regulation by nameless, faceless minions must cease, or we will cease to exist as a sovereign nation, what’s worse is, I fear we teeter on the brink of absolute despotism should our situation decline much further. The last hundred years of constant abuse has beaten a once proud and mighty standard to the point of withering tatters. Can anyone look at the state of America and the world and honestly tell me the current model is sustainable? To do so is to lie to yourself and to your fellow Americans.
I believe:
We must return to self reliance.
We must lose the idea that equality of opportunity is the same as equality of outcome.

In the end, more than freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all – security, comfort, and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again.
We must retake the high ground in our institutions of learning and in the halls of power, leading in word and deed in what is the right and true way to live ones life, not feeding off the labors of others but creating for oneself that which is desired.
This is what true Americans have done in the past and still wish to do, if we can shake loose the shackles our government would choke us with.
Let us honor those who have given their lives for the ideas of America’s founding by devoting our lives to the return of those principles.
Amen.
Are You Smarter than an Elected Official?

Just now, on a dare by The republican Mother, I took a civics quiz on America and the ideals of her founding and happily did better than expected:
You answered 28 out of 33 correctly — 84.85 %
but not as well as I should have. What is scary is, I, an ordinary citizen robot, did much better than our average elected official.

Of course, The republican Mother scored higher than I. That was to be expected.

Hu’s Your Daddy!

Continuing the mantra of “I never met a communist I didn’t like,” the Obama’s welcomed Chinese Dictator Hu Jintau to the White-house with open arms and a formal dinner this week while his Democrat cronies prattled on about China’s currency policies and paid token lip service the country’s human rights violations, all the while warning China that “If they don’t straighten up, we’re going to use some really tough language, Little Mister.”
Note to our comrades in Congress: have you looked in the collective mirror lately? Anyone noticed that China holds the majority of US debt to the tune of $1 trillion? Threatening China with tariffs at this point would be akin to telling your loan shark to take a flying leap off the nearest skyscraper, with equally horrifying and predictable results. Cement shoes, anyone? Stop with the useless posturing and set your own finances in order before you start telling others to balance their checkbooks.
Personally, I think the biggest points scored for the Obama’s were by Michelle with a tie-dyed flaming red and orange something-or-other that must have been retro-fitted from a set of movie theater drapes, which was overly dramatic and so, fit the occasion perfectly, in her own obtuse way. Hu knows? Maybe the drapes in question will be returned to said cinema and enshrined after the occasion.
I also wonder if they re-gifted those Chairman Mao tree ornaments, or if the dinner plates were leaded with Mao’s likeness. Yum!

Well, as close to here as I can be and not actually be here. This is a drive by post, really.
Work has been kicking my butt lately so I’m obviously not posting as much. I am however working on updating the US Timeline page in my spare time and yesterday added some new entries mentioned in an outstanding post over at Fuzzy Logic. I’m also working to add a few more later this evening or tomorrow. The rueful thing is, there are ever more additions to make to the list.

Dems Pull Race Card in Texas Speaker’s Race

Every now and then, I post a newsletter in its entirety. This edition of The Peter Morrison Report is especially important because of the upcoming vote on Texas Speaker of the House. The Democrats once again are attempting to influence Republicans in their choice for Speaker and you can do something to help stop them.
Summary of this week’s report:
The vote for Speaker of the Texas House is a battle for the heart and soul of the Texas GOP. Supporters of Joe Straus know how important this vote is, and in the past few weeks they’ve been pulling out all the stops in order to slander traditional conservatives who want a change in leadership. This time, though, they’ve reached an all time low: we’re now being told it’s “racist” to bar Democrats from Republican caucus meetings.

A new session of the Texas Legislature is about to convene, and the first order of business will be electing a Speaker of the House. This ballot will be the single most important vote House members will cast during the entire session, as the Speaker has tremendous power to set the agenda, appoint committee chairmen, kill bills, etc. During last session, which was divided almost equally between Republicans and Democrats, RINO Joe Straus was Speaker. Straus used the power of his office to thwart conservative goals and paid off the liberal Democrats who voted for him by not rocking the boat. He even helped some of them campaign for re-election against conservative Republicans this past November.
This is totally unacceptable, and there’s no reason Straus should be elected Speaker in this session, because Republicans now enjoy a super-majority in the House. Voters went to the polls all over Texas in November, and we made our voices clear: we want a truly conservative legislature which will work hard to enact a real conservative agenda. We’ve had enough of “me too Republicans” in the House whose main career goals seem to be making friends with Democrats.
Naturally, Joe Straus and his cronies are insisting that they heard us loud and clear, and this session will be different, and Straus will fight for a conservative agenda. Conservatives aren’t buying this line, thankfully. If a man won’t stand for conservative principles when the going is tough, there’s no reason to believe he’ll do so when the wind is at his back. We’ve seen enough of Joe Straus over the years to know exactly where he stands on the issues. He made that crystal clear during the last session, and he’s not the conservative leader Texas conservatives need. All across the state local conservative groups are demanding that Straus be replaced as Speaker.
Party leaders are aware of this, and have scheduled a caucus meeting before the actual start of the session to settle on one GOP candidate for Speaker. The plan is to meet in private and pick a candidate everyone agrees on, rather than fight internal party battles in a public forum. This is nothing out of the ordinary; political parties do this sort of thing all the time. In fact, this is exactly why we have primaries, so the parties can agree on one candidate for the general election, instead of a half dozen people from each party vying for office.
Amazingly, though, one Democrat is denouncing the planned caucus as “racist” – because Democrats aren’t invited! Rep. Joseph Deshotel (D-Port Arthur) has written an open letter making the ludicrous claim that this meeting violates the Voting Rights Act of 1965 because most of the Democratic representatives in the Texas House are minorities, while most of the Republican legislators are white. Here’s a brief excerpt from his letter:
“The forty-nine (49) Democratic legislators not being allowed to participate in what is tantamount to the election of the Speaker consist of forty-two minorities; fifteen (15) African Americans, twenty-five (25) Hispanics and one (1) Asian. Should the Republican Caucus Bylaws be followed an additional two African-Americans and four Hispanic Republican Elect members and one Hispanic former Democrat would be denied a vote as well. These forty-nine minority House Members and the eight millions Texans they represent are being disenfranchised from the Speaker’s election.”
These days we’re seeing more and more outrageous claims of “racism”, but this one really takes the cake. First of all, the Voting Rights Act is a nearly 50 year old law that unconstitutionally discriminates against southern states. It’s a racist law that presumes black people can only be represented by black people, and that white voters in southern states are wicked racists who are always out to deny black people their right to vote.
Second, the Voting Rights Act doesn’t even apply to this caucus, which isn’t an election at all. It’s a private meeting for Republican legislators to discuss internal party affairs. There is still going to be a vote in the House for Speaker; the idea that this meeting will somehow invalidate the votes of minority legislators when they cast their votes for Speaker is completely ridiculous. No one takes this argument seriously; Rep. Deshotel has embarrassed himself and his cause by writing this letter. Crying “racism” when you don’t get your way is rapidly losing its force in America.However, this letter does further demonstrate why Joe Straus is unfit to hold the office of the Speaker of the House. That’s because Rep. Deshotel has pledged his vote to Straus. How can conservatives support a candidate who’s acceptable to a liberal left wing Democrat like Joseph Deshotel, who stoops to accusing Republicans of being racists for not allowing Democrats to have a say in their internal party affairs? We already knew that Joe Straus was too liberal, but this disgraceful episode reveals just what kind of company he keeps. Joe Straus has got to go. We deserve a true conservative as Speaker of the House, not one who counts men like Joseph Deshotel among his supporters.

Arkansas: 5,000 Birds & 100,000 Fish Dead – Updated

The Arkansas town of Beebe witnessed an extraordinary sight on New Years Eve as thousands of birds dropped from the sky dead. Now just 125 miles from that strange occurrence 100,000 fish have been found dead in the Arkansas River…
…A tugboat captain first noticed the fish on Thursday and now wildlife officials are trying to ascertain what killed the fish…
…Some biologists believe fireworks or the weather may have caused stress-related death for the birds and don’t believe the fish kill is linked to the mass bird death…
Hmmm… 125 miles between the fish and the birds. I’m no rocket scientist but, I think a bird, or 5000 of them, could have easily eaten some dead fish on Wednesday or Thursday and flown 125 miles before they died the following Friday. My guess is whatever parasite or disease or death ray that killed those fish killed the birds as well. A scary scenario.
Questions:
Is there some kind of secret laboratory up there in the Ozarks going about some clandestine research?
Where did the Clinton’s spend their recent holiday?
The fish were first discovered on Thursday. Why are we just now hearing about the fish if that was the first occurrence? Was someone or some agency suppressing the fish story? Something smells…

Well, I was busy. The Russians invaded Southeast Texas: White Russians, Black Russians, an entire army of Bolsheviks! Platoon after platoon of Kahlua laced soldiers bombarded the Robot’s fortress for the last few days and I beat back every last one, so cut me some slack. *hic*
