Goes to the blogger known as Editor, who operates the blog Spellchek. Editor has written a very good piece in which he asks us to compare liberty as it existed in 1776 to the “liberty” we experience in America today.
An excerpt:
By any measure, we now live under a shadow of what liberty once was. Everything is relative and we accept a much lower standard to still call us free. The Constitution is now called outdated. We are told our society has evolved and that the principles outlined in the Constitution no longer apply to a modern society. All of these scenarios were pre-warned by the Founders. They wrote it down. They relayed it in speeches. This is why many are so incredulous that this is happening to our country today. The warnings were issued and history has shown us that the template has been followed to a tee. Of course, today we have an astounding wealth of information at our fingertips about the subject, yet it is still a debate.
How is it that we still debate the definition of liberty? Our government and educational system have done us all a grave disservice by ceasing to teach the principles upon which this country was founded. Yet there are still those who understand what true liberty means and the threats it must endure.
Liberty will never exist unmolested. The more free we are, the more some will want to take it away. It was never a matter of declaring it and just being done with it. So many of us have no concept of what true liberty is or ever was…
Editor then explores a short scenario of what it may take to regain the liberty as defined by the Founders in our Constitution. An excellent read indeed. But don’t take my word for it.
See for yourself. Spellchek: Liberty 1776 vs. 2010
The robot is in a funky mood today. Funk in a good, R & B kind-of way. Time to dig on some LeAnn Rimes & Joss Stone from CMT Crossroads. This is the full show. It will play the first song (which kicks butt, BTW). If you want the rest, you’ll have to install the Veoh player. I did. Nothing bad happened.
Oh, this could be considered a Rule 5 post as these two are definitely hot.
What say you, Smitty?
What is Rule 5 you ask? See here for excellent examples.

What is it with Joy? Has she none? First I hear of her calling Sharron Angle a B*I*T*C*H, then Sharron kindly turns the other cheek, and chooses to send Mzzzz. Behar a bouquet of flowers!
What does Joy do? Does she have a change of heart? Does she laugh about what an arrogant little snob she was? No. She doubles down on the bitchitude. Not very lady like at all, really.
I’m sure Miss Angle will respond with the class she has already shown to Mzzz. Beehair. It could be that was Joy’s ploy all along. She wanted more flowers! Yea, that must be it.
Ahem. Joy, hon, you get more flies with honey, honey. But in your case, I’m not so sure.
Anyhoo, I’ve created a little game we can all play while we wait fir the next salvo. Rules are prescribed below. En-joy.
I missed donating to a candidate this past Friday and felt a bit of loss at not having made that weekly donation. So I was thankful that Instapundit gave me a method to relieve my stress. A Monday Money Bomb for Ruth McClung, the rocket scientist running in Arizona’s CD-7!
Hey, thanks for the heads-up, Mr. Reynolds. who also notes that , according to an article at Gateway Pundit, there may be some major voter fraud being attempted in Ruth’s district.
Ruth needs our help to defeat these leftist shenanigans.
A note received in the comments section helps sum up this week’s Rule 5 quite nicely, if in a round-about, truncated, babel fish sort of way.
…Quite cool! I help your view!…
Well, I’m not sure about you, Mr. Anonymous Commenter, but Miss Vergara sure helps my view.

What do you think the Second Amendment is for? Stephen Broden was interviewed by CBS and appeared to back away from some earlier statements he made while stating a violent uprising “is not the first option,“ but it is ”on the table.”
Here’s a comment I left at Bonzai from the Right, who has the video:
I’m disappointed that Pastor Broden is backing away from his earlier statements. (Or is that a bit of clever video editing?) He was right! I’m also surprised that no-one is bringing up the fact that the threat of a violent uprising is exactly why we have a Second Amendment. Take violence off the table and you have surrendered. That being said, violence is and should be, a last resort, after all constitutional measures are exhausted.
I also think, on the other hand, Mark Adams may be correct in his prediction. Either way, it doesn’t bode well for civil society.
In the coming days, the left will do all they can to paint Pastor Broden as extreme. Knowing that, let me ask you, does this woman look like an extremist to you?

UPDATE: WFAA has released the full interview with Pastor Stephen Broden. As I suspected, there was a tad bit of clever editing. Here is the full interview:
Not to be left out of the UFO controversy, here’s video of the El Paso UFO’s from 10/18.
CBS posted this video of a similar triangle pattern from New York on 10/13/10. They disabled the embedding so, here is a news story that shows some shorter length footage.
What do you think? Balloons? Aliens? Distraction? War of the Worlds?
Isn’t there a new space invaders movie coming out in a few weeks?
Color me skeptical.
UPDATE: UFO mystery solved? Maybe for New York, but what about El Paso? And how to explain the recurring triangle pattern? Three points are by definition, a triangle. Is it mere coincidence that the pattern repeats in El Paso?
Maybe Mythbusters should call in Obama for another episode.

Another conservative lady comes to Arizona’s defense, and by doing so, America’s as well. Ruth McClung is a physicist who is concerned about the direction of our country, not a career politician, concerned with lining their pockets.
…I cannot stand on the sidelines when politicians in Washington (like my opponent) are grabbing control of our personal freedoms, wrecking our economy, recklessly spending our money, and destroying America’s greatness. We need to return to limited government, personal responsibility and integrity, a strong work ethic, and opportunity for all. The American dream is to be self reliant and work to achieve the life that you want, not live off the government.
As a nation, we face many complex challenges requiring innovative solutions. My technical knowledge and expertise in scientific problem solving will be valuable in solving these problems. I will take strong, decisive stands on border security and immigration, curbing out-of-control government debt, and promoting job creation through a free market economy. I am committed to limiting our government and defending our Constitution. Working as a physicist, I understand the importance of finding the right solution instead of causing new problems. Maybe it does take a rocket scientist.

Longhaired Conservative no more.
I meant to send off this little caterpillar a month ago, right after I had it cut. It evidently had other plans. I just found the tin-foil it was wrapped in tucked behind some other things on the to-do list, hiding. Maybe some kid will enjoy having salt and pepper hair. I suspect they’ll dye it, or take one look at that mass of stuff and chunk it.
Wigs for Kids is an organization that makes wigs for children who lose their hair due to some medical treatment or disease, similar to Locks of Love. They provide the wigs free of charge but each wig takes around $2000 to produce. If you can make a donation, I’m absolutely positive it would be appreciated.
I had a time picking which to donate to. It came down to a coin toss and Wigs for Kids got the nod.
Back to house work. I’m a Domesticated Robot this weekend. Mom should be proud.
Some random thoughts before I commence on the weekend duties:
I see that Joel Demos won the TBF poll this week. I’ll be donating to his campaign shortly.
From Joel’s website:
I cannot sit still while our country goes down a road that has proven to lead to financial ruin. For my children and yours, my family has decided to embark on this journey to help restore some sanity to Washington.
Thanks to Right Klik for running the Ten Buck Fridays poll and Conscientiously Conservative for coming up with the original concept. Great work both of you and the over 80 bloggers who participate. Speaking of CC, I just looked and realized, she’s not on my blogroll! DOH!
Wait a second while I correct that omission.
While I’m on the subject of blogroll, There are a couple of additions you may be interested in: Holding the Line in Texas, and Fleece Me, who was kind enough to link to the Socia.list page.
We’re down to the last few weeks of the campaign season. Is it just me or do any of you feel a bit burned out from all of the politics? I know I am. Not being a career political junkie or reporter, this season has got to be the most focused I’ve ever been on politics. It wears on a robot. I need a good lube job. And a shot of rum. How do the politicians do it? Are they all on coke?
After the election, I’m going to form a new band or at least join one. I’m feeling the urge to beat on some skins and stretch out the vocal chords. I’ve definitely got some frustration that needs venting. Not sure how much of those happenings I’ll post on this blog though, as some people are more interested in politics than music and I like my political anonymity. I may have to start another, just to separate the two. Or maybe another page on this one. It’s up in the air for now. We’ll see.
For the rest of the weekend, posting may be lite. My freaking DSL is on the fritz again. Come this Tuesday, that problem will hopefully be solved. The ‘bot is going to cable. Buh-Bye ATT with your dropped service every 5 minutes and a ten minute post taking an hour to complete. Also, my house needs cleaning and the studio needs some maintenance. Bottom line is, it’s just too pretty outside to spend dealing with an off and on internet connection, so there you have it.
Speaking of music, here’s one of my faves from the Doobies:
Enjoy your weekend, my friends.
Today we remember that it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In order to help my readers in prioritizing the significance of the event, I’ve chosen a few appropriate photos which, in addition to the national campaign, I hope will also serve as a reminder of a friend whom we all miss dearly.
Is it “who” or “whom” in that context? I never can remember.
At any rate, on with the post.
This being Rule 5 Saturday, and pink being the color chosen for Save the Tata’s Month, this two part theme will be of a very pinkish hue. I’ll let the loyal reader guess as to the identity of the person I seek to honor and send well wishes to, because they have specifically asked to receive no undue attention.
As usual, some of these embiggin with near life-size results.
We pause for a little Rule 5 for the ladies:
With thanks to Right Klik:

Ten Buck Fridays congratulates Dale Glading on his victory in this week’s TBF poll.
Here’s a little background information on Mr. Glading:
Dale Glading, 50, is the Founder and Executive Director of The Saints Prison Ministry. Headquartered in Moorestown, New Jersey, “The Saints” is the largest athletic prison ministry in the country with branch offices in Charlotte, NC, and Colorado Springs, CO…
A lifetime resident of South Jersey, Dale earned a Bachelor of Science degree with summa cum laude honors in Community Recreation from Temple University in 1981. He served as Recreation Director at the Wiley Christian Retirement Community for 10 years before entering full-time ministry with The Saints in 1994. During his years at Wiley, Dale developed a deep empathy for seniors and an understanding of the issues that concern them most…
Dale Glading on the issues: (excerpts)
It is time that the career politicians in Washington stopped trying to buy votes with taxpayers’ money and learned to live within their means instead. That is why I support Rep. Mike Pence’s proposed Balanced Budget Amendment that limits government spending to 20% of the GDP. I have also endorsed Rep. Todd Tiahrt’s bill to place a moratorium on all federal earmarks…
When I think about education, I consider two very important factors. The first is that our children are our most precious treasures as well as the greatest “natural resource” that America has. Second, competition breeds excellence in every area of life, including education.
That’s why I strongly support the idea of school choice. Failing schools shouldn’t be rewarded with a locked-in clientele, and children suffering in underperforming schools shouldn’t be relegated to receiving a substandard education simply because of where they live…
…how about lowering the corporate tax rate which is currently the second highest in the world? That would make American companies more competitive internationally and provide business owners with the capital they need to expand and hire more workers.
And while we’re at it, how about lowering the income tax rates for ALL Americans so we have more disposable income to better care for our families and better fuel the economy. The bottom line is that we all work hard for our money and as such, we should all be able to keep more of it…
